Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
That line up is ridcolously good.
The winner of this should go straight into a british title shot

Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
Hats off to Hearn, this tournament gets better all the time. Great line up with a lot of fighters to shout for. My head says Lynes to win jabbing and moving...
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
Great line up, prices are good as usual!
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
National Hall, Olympia. Any thoughts on that?
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
Better than excel!
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
top prize money they wouldnt get close to that winning a british title!
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
I`d fancy Reese to win this over the 3rnd format. very good line up.

Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
Whats the capacity of the venue?
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
Gavin Rees should run away with this, if he fights like he did against M'baye for the WBA Title.
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
On standby is Leeds Boxer Danny Parkinson (currently 10st 4lbs)
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
Capacity 2500 I think! Should sell out.
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
I think Barnes would box the ears off Rees, assuming he can keep him off for 3 rounds.

Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
gavin rees will eat david barnse 4 breakfast barnse has all the skills but he hates a fight ive seen more balls on a budgie
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
I think Jason Cook will do well!
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
i'll be there..lynes should do well as should gavin. really good little tournament.
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
Feck me, great line up, a hard one to pick. As they say, styles makes fights, cant see Barnes being effective boxing on the back foot, for me you have to press the fight in this format, so the pressure fighters should do ok, but cant pick yet??
But looking forward to this one big time

Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
Staggering line up.
I can't see Muttley being strong at 140? I thought he was a big lad at Welter. Or am I mistaken?
Barnes wont have it to win this.
Rees' work will catch the eye. But Lynes is a very, very good technician.
Will it be seeded?

Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
On paper looks very good show, but Barnes has been out since july 08 so is he fit (will he even turn up) Cook also just back after long break, bami seems to be on downward slope, Muttley never achieved as much as expected imo, and has just been kod, purdy could be anything, Rees had easy comeback fight so meybe confident, that leaves Lynes who has been fighting at world level imo and is fit, even after three losses two very close even controversial, i feel he has the tools to succeed here and get another euro shot.

Prizefighter, LWW.
Colin Lynes, Jason Cook, Gavin Rees, Lee Purdy, David Barnes, Young Mutley, Barry Morrison & Ted Bami are the participants.
Weight limit of 143lbs.
It was rumoured that Ashley Theopane would be in it, but that's obviously now not the case, which is a shame. Ashley trains at my local fintess centre & he comes across as a very humble, quiet, person. A class act. For the most part of his career thus far, Ashley has based himself in USA, regularly spending time with Dimitry Salita.
How do we think the Prizefighter will go?

Re: Prizefighter, LWW.
Gavin Rees is my pick. I think people will struggle with his style in the 3 rounds they have against him.
Re: Prizefighter, LWW.
Theophane was in the Breen's last Thursday sparring Paul McCloskey. Looked in decent nick.

Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
I'd go for Lynes but its not a confident pick. This one is by far the most wide open yet.
Re: Prizefighter Light Welters
I dont know if its already been said on this thread or not but im a little disappointed that Ted Bami is being given another shot at prizefighter given that he's already participated in the welterweight version. Surely there must have been another light-welter who could have had a bite at the cherry??
