Just to check when you say here he was a Heavy do you mean he was an actual HEAVYWEIGHT on just in the heavier weight divisions?

A REALLY Big Clue!

Post by Ric »

OK, because I'd like to see this quiz fully resolved today, I'm gonna give a REALLY BIG clue:
If, as the AP indicates by the number of headlines he generated, this boxer was second only to Jack Dempsey in terms of popularity during the early 1900s, then one would think that many youngsters dreaming of becoming boxers themselves would adopt this boxer's name as their moniker--much like other boxers would fight as "Young Dempsey."

Before Jack Dempsey, John L Sullivan was a very popular man in the U.S.A. People would go around that met him in person saying "shake the hand that shook the hand of John L Sullivan"
