Browsing for World Titles

Browsing in the 'titles' tab on the front page, I wanted to know which title to look under to see world title lineage... for some reason I can't find, for example, Muhammad Ali on the lineages.
Most of the early world titles are subsumed under the text "World DIVISION Title", which was independent of sanctioning bodies and has no entry in the titles list.

Later WBA, WBC and IBF often had common title holders, who should be assigned to every bodies' list, which is also done only rarely.

You better raise this issue in the Record Queries & Updates forum, as is not related to the BoxRec Ratings.

This is another big can of worms :witzend: in my opinion THERE NEVER WAS SUCH A THING AS A SINGLE WORLD CHAMPION

World titles were awarded by the British Boxing Board of Control, the National Boxing Association and the NYSAC. Evern when all three agreed on a champion they did not have the agreement of the other 300 odd countries in the world. My opinion is every title in the system should have the body who sanctioned it, other editors disagree (a lot).

We have a lot of the BBBofC and NYSAC titles in the system but there is a lot of work needs doing to sort it all out.

The ancient IBU awarded titles, too. But BBBofC world titles are not itemized, are they? I can't remember coming across one.

Omitting the sanctioning bodies just causes confusion as this compilation of possible "World bantamweight title fights" may illustrate. The general World weight division title tag should be an addition at the most, but not replace the specific sanctioning body weight division title tag. But what about "generally recognized" world title fights, which were only sanctioned by public opinion?

I can only think of the first WBC and WBA heavyweight title fights, which seem to be treated that away as addressed here and on this page.

The public should feel free to regard any bout listed in the Boxrec database as being for the word title.

I can only think of the first WBC and WBA heavyweight title fights, which seem to be treated that away as addressed here and here. (For that matter: As it now seems, the Frazier fights in 1968/69 have been for the NYSAC title only.) Are there any more cases of this kind I missed?
Emaster: Nice work on this bantam title lineage page you referenced. :TU:
