How is Margarito super elite? He was absolutely destroyed by Mosley, and his best win is tainted.
Why is his best win tainted? Cause of what he did prior to the Mosley fight? Why isn't all his wins tainted then.
This is why I very, very rarely discuss anything with you anymore, Stu. You're like a dog with a f*cking bone. If you don't accept Margarito's victory against Cotto is tainted, there's nothing to say.
And before you start, NO, just because the twat was preparing to go out with plaster fists it doesn't NECESSARILY mean he was doing it before. But, it makes any rational person think, no?
I wasn't debating anything. I was asking questions, you might have thought they were daft questions But was asking why was the Cotto fight tainted, more so than the other fights? Did he hook up with that trainer for the Cotto fight and not for the others.
And before you start, NO I am not trying to start a debate or an arguement on this - I am asking the question. I'm not even, as you think I love to do, take a arguement just to be a pedantic so and so and piss James (or whoever) off.
There has been a school of thought on various forums, including this one, that Margarito "plastered up" for the Cotto fight (cause of the mess on Cotto - apparently he never gets messed up) and tried it for the Mosley fight.... but was "clean" in his other fights. Now that school of thought is one I just don't understand and I was wondering if James was in it or not.
My own view point is.... I don't care if Margarito plastered up or not before - the guy shouldn't be near a boxing ring in his life. He attempted to do the most disgusting thing a boxer could do and showed no respect for his opponent (who is also a kind of forgotton about cheat) or the sport. He should have been banned for life. However, he will invariably return and he will get the big fights which is why I put him in the "possibly" bracket of the "Super Elite" - his wins in the past, if they were legit, over Clottey, Cotto and Cintron make him worthy.... and, sadly, we will get to see if he can legitimately and fairly beat top fighters - cause there is no doubt he will be vicarously checked next time.
If you are to ask me the direct question "Do I think Margarito cheated in the Cotto or any other fight", my answer would be I don't know, I would like to think the checks and safety procedures are in place to catch any wrong doing, remember that he was actually caught before any punch was thrown against Mosley (thank goodness). I would like to think the checks would have been there to prevent it happen against Cotto or any other fighter. I would like that the checks before and after each fight was vigarous enough to show him to be innocent until proven guilty. Although I do feel bad doing that, cause I don't want to give that scumbag any "praise" whatsoever.
I think that is a fair enough, rational enough, stance. At the same time, I am aware that in the heat of a big box office promotion things can get overlooked. However, I was simply asking if James thinks all of Margarito's fights are tainted, or just the Cotto one (because of the manner of that performance). As I said, sadly we are going to find out how good Margarito is. Sadly, alot of athletes get caught cheating on one occasion but not on others, and they come back "clean" and a chance to reach the top of the tree again..... does that mean all of the performances, including all the times they passed the various tests get dubbed "tainted" or just the ones in which the excelled? Again, let me reiterate that was a question not an arguementative, pedantic, "dog with a bone" point of view. Should everything that Shane Mosley, James Toney, Linford Christie, Vitali Klitchsko, Dwain Chambers etc achieved and will achieve in future be labelled "Tainted", or should it be just the ones they were caught on, or should be the ones they got caught on and the ones they looked impressive also (forget the bad nights... must have been clean then)???? Again its a question, I would like to hear your answer too.... I can already give you my response to your impending answer "fair enough, IMO there is no right or wrong answer, respect your opinion" - so don't worry about a long winded, pedantic argumentative response.... it was a question.
I think I've clarified my stance on Margarito, hand wraps, Cotto, and who can would definately beat Khan enough now. Ian, if you don't like my style of posting, what I've got to say, and the way I rationalise things why don't you just press ignore. Instead of trying to bring it to everyones attention your views on me.
On a side note, did Margarito still get his millions for the Mosley fight? I don't think I read anywhere that he got his pay cancelled.
