I'll be buying it with a few mates and I'm quite looking forward to it, Amir gets too much bad press IMO. He's excellente! in terms of his ability and excitement in the square ring and with his profile and backing he should be in numerous massive fight

Amir will go down as a legend IMO

but he was the one british fighter who could have started another golden age for british boxing , with the kind of viewing figures the likes of Benn and Eubank generated on 1tv, 12 -18 million

but then im a true boxing fan

i actually wanted Khan to stay in the amateurs (until the next olympics) , for exactly the same reasons...his presence in the ams would have rejuvenated the sport from grass roots....

instead they followed the quick and easy money

its a shame

If we had to rely on terrestrial TV to make boxing legends then we'd be pretty fooking short of them in last few decades. Terrestrial TV are just not interested in the sport and you're demented if you think that any UK TV programme will get anywhere near 12-18m viewers

We got Pacquiao v Cotto, Mayweather v Marquez, Mayweather v Oscar, Mayweather v Gatti, Mayweather v Baldomir, Hopkins v Tarver, Morales v Pacquiao I & II all on normal Sky Sports but they charged 15 quid for Khan v Prescott

And I bet Pacquiao v Oscar would have been on Sky Sports had Khan not been fighting Oisin Fagan on the same night which gave Sky the excuse to combine the two and sell it as one show on SBO.

Hopkins-ODLH and their preceding double-header, as well as most Tyson fights post-Bruno 2, were UK PPV.

Like when they stated sky were a monopoly regarding the Premiership and but the rights up for a % of matches over the season, Setanta won them and it ended up costing more to watch them all having to pay for 2 subscriptions

a PPV matchup should be contested by 2 legitimate stars with legitimate credentials and this one isn't I feel. I am a Khan fan and I like this bill. But you're correct. It is a big shaft job. If I had Sky I would end up buying it of that I'm sure. Seeing as I couldn't get accomm sorted in Newcastle to go, I shall be wathing in the local Pool hall who usually show the fights.
