hmmm....let me get back to you on this one, I really need to weigh in on this, because Tua probably has the best resume of any HW I've seen in the last ten years who never made champ.

Yeah, because Tua's fight always ended up with him massacred. I never saw a fighter taste the canvas as much as him.

I'll submit right now he had a better chin than Frazier and hit just as hard.

The Tuaman, imo, would have been the wrong type of power hitter for Frazier to have encountered. Both had similar styles, both had great chins, great conditioning, great power; but its Tua who seems to have the longer longevity over Smokin' Joe, he's still dangerous, while Joe was in the twilight of his career at the same age. I dont think Frazier could have knocked him out, and I don't see any other way for Joe to win other than by decision, because he did have an incredible work rate [not like Tua didn't either, Tua and Ibeauchi still hold the highest punch total in a HW fight].

I tend to think, at Tua's best, he may have been out pointed by Joe. However, Frazier never fought such a powerful hitter with the exception of Foreman----I shudder to think what would happen to Frazier if Tua's left landed, as well as what would happen if Frazier's left landed on Tua. I think it goes the distance---but if Tua was to win, he'd win by kayo inside eight rounds.

Frazier would beat Tua just like he did Bonavena, another iron-chinned banger with a big left hook.

Tua's standing in mythical matchups b/c of his knockouts of C and B-class opponents is so over-fetched it's incredible. Tua never beat an A-class fighter in his career and never would.

That's a little different than saying Joe would massacre him. He certainly didn't massacre Ringo

Tua is certainly no push over, and in his prime he was a force to be reckoned with. But a puncher's chance is all I give him against one of the top 5 heavyweights of all time in my mind. Frazier KO9.

He's been fighting professionally for seventeen years. Nobody has stopped him yet.

True, and I already mentioned, he's a tough cookie. But who on his resume has anything near the firepower that Smokin Joe would bring to the table? Lennox Lewis is the best he ever stepped in with, and that was a pure boxing lesson. I'm still calling for the stoppage in this one, even if it's the accumulation variety.

He beat five heavyweight champions. He hasn't been stopped in seventeen years. In fact he's still fighting.

When someone says massacre I think Liston-Patterson, Cooney-Norton, Foreman-Frazier Foreman-Norton, Norton-Bobick, Holmes- Frazier, Tyson-Berbick, Tyson-Spinks, Tyson-Frazier , et cetera. Those are massacres.

I don't think Frazier is massacreing the iron chinned David Tua.

1) Which five champions are those?

2) Since I was the one using the word, 'massacre,' maybe you should seek clarification on what I mean by it.

Probably. They're so ubiquitous & trivialised by now, it wouldn't surprise me.

Maybe ThatOne knows?

I like Frazier by unanimous decision in a competitive fight. No closer than 9 rounds to 6, Tua has a good punchers chance, but I think that in their primes Frazier beats him 8 times out of 10.

He has gaps of inactivity so long that you could fit the state of Alaska in them, and his opponents the last 6 or 7 years have been dodgy at best. Just to clarify.

The definition of a, "puncher's chance," is the opportunity to KO someone with one shot.

No one's doing that to Frazier.

Wide ud or late tko for Frazier. Tua looked great against club level opposition but whenever he faced a world class fighter he struggled to land that hook and showed himself to be a quite one-dimensional fighter. The exception was the Ruiz fight, in retrospect this was quite an impressive win as Ruiz turned out to be a very durable fighter. As for Tua beating 5 world champs you really need to add the context and when you do it's not so impressive now is it?

My thoughts entirely.

I like watching Tua & certainly don't underestimate him, but he has to be one of the most overrated HWs for many years.

Michael Moorer is a 2 time HW champ.

Fres Oquendo shouldn't even be on the list.

The larger point is I don't think Tua would win but I don't think he would be massacred. That dude had and has a great chin.
