Re: Board News Fury Vacates
mcdermotts trainer is not training him anymore because he doesnt work hard enough and hes fed up of being a friend just wants to be a trainer
Re: Board News Fury Vacates
Does look like Fury is ducking Mcdermott big time to me.
Mcdermott should make a big deal out of this, Fury has a mouth on him and to be honest getting called a chicken in the press would serve him right.

Incidently, working with brian hughes can only help!
Re: Board News Fury Vacates
Can anyone see Fury joing Hattons? I read it could be Johansson v Sykes for British superfeather.
Re: Board News Fury Vacates
It could be a mix of both damaged hand and a correct career choice. If his hand is that badly damaged, then it does make sense to ensure it is 100% before taking a fight. As we say he is 21, - there is 2 decent reasons he shouldn't take the McD fight.
1. There is a big risk of getting beaten and with all the hype over their last meeting, if Fury was to take the McD rematch and loose or even win controversial again, he would quickly turn into a nobody and be disliked over night even, though he would gain a little shred of respect back for re matching.
2. If there is something truly up with his hand, then risking it at this stage of his career would be very dumb and potentially retiring.
This choice Fury has made does come across as cowardice in many ways and all the trash talking his press machine as done hasn't helped.
I am really disappointed there is no rematch, this was a domestic fight that needed to happen in fairness to McD, the fans and for British boxing judging!!
I will be even more enraged if I see Fury fighting again in the next 6 months against a bum.
Fury if you are sincerely injured, then I hope you heal right and call out McD!!!

Like I said when Fury debuted. He's not very good. John would beat him again. He did hurt his hand, but I doubt that's what really is stopping him getting into the ring with John.
Fury will fight bums over the next year. Then the mugs on this forum will start saying he's the next greatest heavyweight since Ali.
When he actually starts to fight some domestic heavyweights. Sprott, Harrison, Sexton, Rogan, McDermott, Chisora etc. They all beat him.

Chisora vs McDermott will be intresting to see how Chisora deals with McDermott, McDermott is tricky to beat but I do think Chisora will beat him a lot more comftorabley than Fury did

personally on the mcdermott affair i think he is massively underrated, absolutely solid(apart from skelton mauling he got) good skills decent ethic and always in your face, the guy is as good as there is on the british heavyweight scene i think mcdermott did williams in both fights personally and he would do sexton so for me it was a great fight by fury and would have learned more then than in any other fight, should rematch asap as it was a decent fight fans wize aswell

Totally agree he is brilliant to have below domestic level for these "prospects" he will really test them and show them up if they dont give it there allboltonkings wrote:personally on the mcdermott affair i think he is massively underrated, absolutely solid(apart from skelton mauling he got) good skills decent ethic and always in your face, the guy is as good as there is on the british heavyweight scene i think mcdermott did williams in both fights personally and he would do sexton so for me it was a great fight by fury and would have learned more then than in any other fight, should rematch asap as it was a decent fight fans wize aswell

Re: Board News Fury Vacates
I really do feel for John McDermott he has been on the wrong end of 3 very close decisions the 2 loses to Williams were close and really could of gone either way but that robbery against Fury was a joke I completly understand why he maybe is disillusionand with boxing but I hope he sticks it out as boxing need's people like him to test domestic fighters and get shots at domestic honours himeslf
Re: Board News Fury Vacates
i thought williams won the 2 fight quite cleary dont get me wrong they were close but i dont think they were robberies, the fury one he clearly got robbed

But in Fury's own words he's already "five times more talented than any heavyweight in the world" and his dad informs us "Michael Spinks and George Foreman would never have lived with him"...Horse wrote:Fury is a novice as a pro. I don't see how he is a coward for needing a bit more time to develop before fighting the best in the domestic division.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:why did he vacate then?? he could have waitd til his hand healed then fight mcdonut. bgut tyson fury is all mouth. he got schooled by mcdonut and he will get schooled by sexton..chisora..mcdonut..poop even fraudley would beat fury
