As I said months ago, this fight is about egos just as much as it's about talented fighters and when you throw the Mayweather clan, Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, Freddie Roach and Bob Arum into the pot you've got bigheads galore. The fight will happen eventually, as already stated it's too big for it not to happen my guess would be in the autumn sometime.

No quotes from Mayweather/Golden Boy?

They will probably just be waking up to all this bashing by Arum about now. Bob obviously had a busy night getting his blows in first.

Some PEDs have half lives of hours, meaning if the test isnt random an athlete only has to stop using them for a day if they know when the test is thus pass with flying colours despite being doped to high heaven

I think the only way to stop drug cheating is to make them all legal. Seriously just let them take whatever they like. That's the only way we can trult have a level playing field.

All we have now are boxers all on some kind of juice doing their best to mask it. I'd bet the house that both Pac and Floyd have taken stuff they shouldn't have at some point in their careers.

Why not just let them inject Orang-Utan hormones and testosterone into their b0110cks between rounds and be done with it.

It would seem Pacmans people got off 1st with blaming the other camp :-?

Question still remains. Why won`t pacman agree to random drug testing??

The question is, why has Mayweather, Mayweather Sr, Uncle Roger, Leonard Elerbe, De La Hoya, Richard Schaefer etc who have all been around the sport a long time, have never made any complaint to any commission before now stating that they feel the drug testing proceedure's currently in place are inadequate and Olympic style drug testing needs to be introduced to the sport?

Mayweather and his team all new before the Marquez fight he would likely fight Pacquiao next. Why did he not petition for Olympic style tests for that fight? He new Marquez was jumping up two divisions, was he not suspicious that he might look for some 'special' help? ............. No, not at all, because he knew he had Marquez's number, drugs or no drugs.

If this fight fails to happen now, or at least by the end of this year, Mayweather's legacy will be forever damaged by it!

No No No. Surely you find Mayweather's requests a little insulting?

How can he demand tests that are not required by governing bodies or State Athletic commisions?
Because the commisions testing has been allowing blatant PED cheating for ages now?

Then its the commissions drug testing procedures that need to change for all boxing matches by the commisions not by Mayweather to dictate such procedures for people he faces in the ring. Did he enforce it on Marquez? Will he be asking Matt Hatton for the same if the fight happens not that any amount of drugs will help Matt H in the case.

Manny is well within his rights to refuse such tests as these are not mandated by the athletic commission. As a consequence he now has a tarnished image because of Mayweathers insinuations. He may well be on something , i dont know but he has always come out clean as has Mayweather. One standard for all is what I am saying.

Let's see what mayweather says, could be the other way round in terms of damaged legacy.
Mayweather and co are obviously convinced he's on something, why else walk away from a 40 mill payday. Seriously doubt he's scared of Pac, not a fighter who's dismantled an array of monsters like Diego Corrales. He'll be sure of winning I would imagine, if he thought Pac was clean...anyway, at the moment you can make a case either way.

I'm still hopefull they'll sort it, the alternatives, foreman and hatton, would be a fecking disaster

Boxing is and always has been run by promoters and boxers, commisions are just there to take their cut, they are pretty irrelevant and always have been, always taken money to do as they are told from promoters and so forth. Mayweather is well within his rights asking for this and is more important than the commision.

The commision doesnt fine people 10million per pound for coming in over weight and neither do they make people come down to catch weights but boxers such as Manny are happy to enforce those boxer made rules

All this commision talk is a smoke screen to excuse Manny's suspicious behaviour that would have him banned if he was in an Olympic sport

Got to disagree with that. If he was so sure of winning then why care so much about the "additional" drug tests? You would have to think he's at least slightly concrened by Pacquiao. Do you honestly believe that Mayweather really gives a monkey's about who's juicing and who's not? Look at the image the guy has worked so hard to create for himself over he years, bad ass Mayweather kicking it with 50 pence and the like, just look at that dudes pecs and biceps, perhaps Mayweather should order some tests on him.

Those connected with Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy were all quick to point out on several occassions that it was not Floyd who was requesting the additional drug testing, it was supposed to be Elerbe & the Mayweather Sr's etc. Now look at all the reports that have broke today, the final decision lay at Floyd's feet and he refused to accept the fight based on Pacquiao's refusel to take the 'additional' tests.

Mayweather's bottled it, i cant see it any other way!

There is no question who is to blame for this breakdown, and that's Mayweather.

I'm not sure about his motivations, whether it's fear of losing his oh, or just because he's genuinely concerned about the prospect of facing a juiced opponent, but it's still his fault.

First, he asks for an absolutely unique special condition that his opponent be held to a standard to which no other fighter in boxing has ever been required to adhere.

Pacquiao says, OK, even though it's not required of me, I'll do random blood testing, but as long as the cut off is 30 days before the fight -- then you can take as much blood as you want immediately after.

Mayweather refuses to budge.

The negotiations go into mediation, and it is Pacquaio who offers to move, yet again, by offering to take random tests 24 days before the fight, and immediately after, plus all the urine they want whenever they want.

But Mayweather, instead of accepting, or even shifting to a new position to see if they could get Pacquiao to move, simply refuses, and insists on his original position.

And that's when Arum just called it off as a waste of time.

I knew something like this would happen. I said, and someone can go back and find the thread if they want, that Mayweather would make life impossible in the negotiations, and that was the main danger to the fight being made.

Lo and behold, that's exactly what's happened.

I still think the fight might happen. I think that right now Arum is playing chicken with the fight, and that Mayweather might just blink. We'll see.

Now, I'm in a mood to cut off my nose to spite my face, and it would give me a perverse pleasure to see him in a mismatch against Hatton just so we can watch that braggart guttersnipe lose what last shreds of credibility he has.

Such a shame, because he's so talented, and so awesomely good, and he would probably beat Manny and become an all time great.

How is it Mayweather fault?

Why should ANYONE fight a juiced opponent? If Pac agreed to RANDOM tests then the fight would be on, Pac is hiding something. He wants 24 days before the fight so he can 'possibly' use whatever he 'might' be using.

Olympic and other athletes take random tests but Pac won't?

PAC IS TO BLAME.TAKE A RAMDON TEST BUT INSIST ON JUST 1 BEFORE(RANDOM UNSPECIFIED DATE BUT NOT BEFORE 72 HOURS OF THE FIGHT) AND ONE AFTER.....

AS SOMEONE SAID 'IT CAN TAKE 24 HOURS FOR A DRUIG TO LEAVE YOUR BODY.

I PERSONALLY THINK PAC TAKES THINGS TO HELP WITH THE TRAINING WHICH MAKLES HIM BETTER COME FIGHT NIGHT.

MY OPINION AND SUE ME.

PAC IS TO BLAME.

They will both regret this in a few years when they are both skint. They are as bad as each other IMO, Floyd never really wanted the fight and Manny should have just taken the test, i know Floyd had no right to ask him too, but for $40 million most fighters would take a test between each round. Manny must be on the gear IMO. Eeeedyets the pair of them.

Its just too depressing for words that the two best pound for pound fighters in the world don't want to fight each other. Shame on Pac for not agreeing to the random tests (although that said, I don't think he's a cheat) and shame on Mayweather for finding yet another excuse not to fight a boxer of equal pedigree. Who cares who they might fight next instead, I won't give a shit either way. Its another sad day for the sport.

What's more depressing is that i've just finished George Kimball's book 'Four Kings' which depicts an era when the best really did fight the best.

Pac should have been happy to take blood tests if it was all that was needed to get money in the ring and accept a 14 day limit right now. Mayweather always has a habit of making negotiations hard though and you have to wonder if he really wanted the fight.

If manny pacquaio was an olympian, he would be required to take random tests, if he was a footballer he would be required to take random tests.Look at the trouble rio ferdinand got into when he he missed his test.Unfortunately, I think manny has something to hide. Its the easiest thing in the world to take a random test, be proved clean, and then demand an apology. Its a shame as I have enjoyed watching his fights, but this tarnishes his achievements for me.I now have the uneasy feeling that he is a cheat.I hope to be proved wrong on that.

yeah good post.

it's for the commissions to enforce harsher drug testing.

most fans agree they are too slack on this issue.

shannon briggs recent ban proves how lightly it's taken in the sport.

mayweather is behaving like an arse.

nothing new there then.

the fact DG is siding with floyd proves how f*cked up he is.
