While I agree with some of your points that's a terrible analogy - equivalent of shooting yourself in the foot!
urango - hard punching, top ten contender, title holder, tough as old boots.

think fletcher and mugabi tick those boxes.

the better fighters also beat those 2 guys.

just like the better fighters beat urango (berto & hatton).

I saw the interview, he looked bigger than ever, what do you reckon he's weighing now, got to be pushing 15 stone? I know he's one of the most dedicated trainers ever but I think he'll really struggle to get down to L/welter again.

Lovemore N'Dou is a good choice by Deserter.

Now Khan is with Golden Boy - I am willing to bet Golden Boy will love it if they can make Hatton v Khan in the summer or early Autumn.

I was one of 8 people who picked Manny to win by KO. I think Hatton won the poll by a land slide!
Me too. I was convinced he would lose both those fights and if I had a mortgage I would have put it on those fights. I was one of those 8.

Like I said in my first post, it's no shame that he's not on that level, but just have some humility and admit it. He came up as a hard working, down to earth 'one of the lads' but seemed to ditch that somewhere before the Floyd fight, IMO.

I aint saying he would have beaten them - but he was certainly stronger in the Kostya fight than he was for the Mayweather fight. Seeing Pacquiao demolish Cotto since makes me think Pacquiao would have been strong enough to bully Kostya around, in a similar fashion as Ricky did. However, I aint convinced Mayweather would have out strengthed Kostya - (he would have out boxed him) but yet he out strengthed Ricky, who was stronger than Kostya in 2005.

At the end of it, I always thought Floyd and Manny would have been too quick, too sharp and too skillful for Ricky. However, I am starting to think Ricky cannot sustain his highly intensive 3 month camp - if he is already in shape before.
Maybe its not to the same level, but if Peter McNelley said he could have performed better against Tyson, would that be the same as Hatton saying he could have done better?

Yes, we all know perhaps Ricky could have done better, but Pacquiao got him out of there quick time & Mayweather out-fought, out-thought him, & then knocked him out!

Yes, but Hatton has not stated he wants to fight these two again.... yet and he hasn't said he would beat them. Just doesn't want to end his career on a bad performance, as much as a bad result.

If Peter McNeeley said he wanted Tyson again cause he performed badly then we would laugh at him... if Peter McNeeley says he doesn't want to end his career on a bad performance (different to result) then I would say "why not, go for it".

Hatton might, and I dare say probably will, call out Pacquiao and Mayweather after his comeback fight - but he hasn't so far.

Any athlete that keeps ballooning/shedding weight will shorten their career. If he was a big guy it wouldn't be so bad but to gain and lose 2-3 stone every year (sometimes more than once a year) when you are 5"8 and welterwight is just not good for you. Hatton gets himself in great shape but there's no way he can be at his best when he spends so much time fighting the flab.

Standard stuff really, he's announced his comeback and everybody does it. You have to to get people interested in seeing you fight again. Hatton has plenty of 'casual boxing fans' so maybe he can con them into thinking, 'Yeah actually I can see why he lost now it was that Billy fella's fault'. Just self promotion that some of the hardcore fans won't believe but none of that matters 'cos we'll all tune in regardless.

Yep, this is a popular myth about Hatton imho, he is listed in various places as 5'7 - 5'8. I'm 5'9 and have stood next to Hatton and would say there's a fair difference between us. I'd put him at 5'6 ish tbh, maybe this isn;t true but I think many boxers exaggerate their height, I mean Gavin Rees is listed as 5'7, I can't see that one either.
