I am going to put my tin hat on now and be the voice of dissent.
I have been a big fan of Tony Bellew since he was an amateur - saw his fights when he was fighting at heavyweight and he is the one amateur I thought (and still think) who will develop into a really good fighter (without making any daft predictions because as we have seen with Errol Christie, Audley Harrison, George Collins etc the best amateurs in this country don't always become the best pro's, shit happens) it has been a suprise to see him fight at light heavyweight as a pro but he has done all thats asked of him up till now.
But the thing is Tony, you haven't beaten any of your domestic competitors to have the
right to fight for that title. It is OK shouting for a chance at the British and Commonwealth titles but you know - what have you done to deserve it? If you had at least beat Danny McIntosh, Courtney Fry, Spartacus, Matthew Barney or Oakey then fair enough - but at this moment in time you haven't fought any of your domestic rivals which would count as an eliminator and then you can go 'well, here I am - its my turn'
Ovil McKenzie is a tough guy who has paid his dues and is deserving of a break and he certainly deserves his shot at the titles - I also think Tony Oakey deserves his shot as well - The titles aren't going anywhere - all I am saying personally - before you call out Cleverly and McKenzie - fight at least
one of your domestic rivals and become the no1 domestic challenger by earning it.
And remember people - its a point of view thats been made in a respectful manner - lets keep the debate that way eh?
