Did the WBC strip Zoo or not..??

Post by Jedi Knight »

Just occured to me that this fight is only for the IBF title. Didn't the WBC elevate Zoo to "Emeritus" champion are something..??

Is he still the Emeritus champ or did they finally strip him..? Also if they didn't strip him why hasn't this so called elevated title been mentioned..?

Gatti is WBC champ and Tszyu is still Emeritus Champ (whatever that is)

He is Emeritus, but its not a title that he can defend so it will only be for the IBF title.

I know Gatti has the official title but what happens if Zoo looses...? Will he be stripped of this status or would Hatton be cogonised as Emeritus..

Can't see if myself but it makes ya wonder.. :-?

I think the Emeritus thing is just an honour the WBC give to their favourite fighters, maybe you have to keep the title for a while or something. I believe Mayweather has one aswell.

If they lose I don't know if they still have this "title", but I'm pretty sure the opponent doesn't get it.

[/b]emeritus

Retired but retaining an honorary title corresponding to that held immediately before retirement: a professor emeritus.
n., pl. -ti (-tī').

One who is retired but retains an honorary title corresponding to that held immediately before retirement

seem the WBC don't know what it means either

Didn't they grant it and create it for Tszyu, so he could be champion whilst he was out through injury.

Really and truly what they should have done is made Mitchell champion and made Tszyu his #1 mandatory.

That's one way of looking at it...another option that springs to mind is money, money, money...gosh i'm so cynical
