I spoke to Lovemore NDou for around 20 minutes - thats LA, presumably on a mobile as I never had any trouble getting him, but the number didn't strike me as a mobile and I did have to call the regional code to connect so maybe I wont be stung quite so much.

However much it was, it's been worth it. You'll be able to astound various people in bars up and down the land with your tale. Come the first week of June, you'll be a legend.

"When I spoke to my mate Kostya..." :D

Good work, Jimbo - a good read.

In the states there's nothing to really differentiate mobile numbers from land lines as I recall, they all look the same. Mobiles seem to have the same area codes, which I guess are based on where you get connected initially. I may be wrong, but this is what I remember.

I think in some cases, it can actually be cheaper phoning mobile to mobile internationally than it is with a land line. I don't think the charges are quite as high as they once were.

We can hope.

Like Ian said, you can be a legend in your living room though when you proclaim....'when I spoke to Kostya'

But dont end up like Rodney Trotter, speaking of his previous liasion with Miss Anna Bolicsteroid:

'I couldn't stand anuver night of, and I said to Zola and Zola said to me'

I watch them too much dont I?

I've tried astounding my mates, but sadly none of them know who the fornicate Kostya Tszyu is. Had I interviewed Kelly Brook it would probably have impressed them more. Come june thing's may be different though.

Good experience, and must say I enjoyed it thoroughly.

The Ponytail reminds me of my favourite boxing related scene in film.

From Coming to America - the Eddie Murphy film. When Murphy goes for a haircut.....

'Why every time we talking boxing, does the white guy have to bring up Rocky Marciano? They always gotta pull Marciano outd day ass!'

'Marciano was a hell of a fighter...

'Yes, he did beat Joe Louis!'

'Beat Joe Louis, Joe Louis lyed about his age all the time, he was sevny five years old when he fought Marciano......

Something like that.

In the US mobiles have the same region codes as normal numbers. It costs 2p a miniute for me to call a US mobile on telewest international

I know for a fact the fight would not happen. Obviously people here are going to slate me because they are happy that their lovable manc Hatton has signed to fight Tszyu, but I know, from looking at Hattons cowardly career moves that he will pull out. I have a 500 quid bet on this. When I am right, I presume I will recieve apologies from J and dontcallitacomeback among others, but I will take flack for now.

None of my opinions can be easily refuted.

That was a good interview BTW.

you arrogant toss, your opinions are biased beyond belief mate, your bordering on troll like behaviour on this issue.

i will apologise if Im wrong however did you do the same on the pederson thread NO so dont fornicating start asking for something you aint prepared to do yourself sonny jim, bthat just backs up the thinking you are a hypocrite, AND will you do the same if the fight happens in fact worse you will have to lay out 500 notes.

do you honestly think this fight is not going happen after all the publicity the sell out crowd tv deals etc, i think i can refute that. In short your being a nob for no good reason other than you hate hatton. Stop it please.

Ill make a deal with you ill stop slating you if you stop slating hatton for no good reason, that way everyone can get along ok. Just for a while give us a break will ya.

sorry i dont understand, im sayin fits hardly likely they are gonna pull him after all thats in place.
im just fed up of this constant sparring with lirva cos he feels the need to attack hatton for no good reason at every given opportunity, its tedious.

You need to learn the difference between a fact and an opinion. First of all you state that you know 'for a fact.' The fight won't happen.

At the end you say nobody can refute your 'opinion.'

So which is it. If you know for a fact, then where did you hear this fact.

And I am afraid opinions are easy to refute, as they have no basis in fact. Facts are virtually impossible to refute, provided you have evidence.

In your opinion you think the fight will not happen, but you have nothing concrete to back it up, whether you like it or not.

The only fight thus far which Hatton's people have arguably pulled out of is the Mitchell one, which they clearly didn't want. Harris pulled out of his fight, and even Steward admitted that he advised him not to take the fight as he thought it too risky.

Lirva - mate it makes no logical sense for Hatton to pull out - if you are going to duck fighters, you simply don't sign a contract to face them. The fight has been announced, tickets have been sold (including incidentally my two 300 quid ones) and Warren will have spend thousands in advertising - why on earth would they do that if they were gong to pull out.

I now you think Hatton ducked Witter and has a padded record but I just can't logically see how this extends to him knowingly committing a fraud by pulling out of a Tszyu fight. I've met Hatton a couple of times, a lot of people I know have met him or indeed know him reasonably well and all speak of a decent bloke (check the number of small hall/schoolboy shows he goes to) who genuinely believes he can beat Tsyzu.

And before I get labelled a Hatton apologist, some of his opponents in the last 2 years have been well below the required standard and I think he will get stopped in 3rd/4th round by Tsyzu.

Yes, exactly, what on earth would Hatton gain by pulling out, let's have a look.

1 Losing the respect of the entire boxing community.
2 Losing a significant number of his fans.
3 Losing his #1 Mandatory position.
4 Losing a huge payday.

What does he stand to gain.

1 A possibility of becoming a top 10 p4p fighter in one fell swoop.
2 Earning the respect of the boxing community even if he loses but acquits himself well.
3 A massive payday.
4 Exposure on a huge PPV in a massive fight.

Yeah sure, makes real sense for Ricky to pull out. This is a win-win situation. He is the underdog against Tszyu anyhow, so there's nothing to lose....

The other fights which never happened, were because they were trying to jockey Hatton into position for this fight, which they succeeded in doing. I don't doubt they didn't fancy Mitchell, whose style could have caused problems, same goes for Witter, but Tszyu, that's the holy grail for fighter and promoter.

Well, three months is a hell of a long time in boxing, but here's hoping there's no training injuries too close to 5th June, on either side.

And anyone who thinks Hatton has agreed to this fight, while secretly prepairing to pull out before it happens, is mad as a hatter.

That's a conspiracy theory right up there with the best of em.

Comparable with the one about Archie Moore throwing the Marciano fight.

Yeah, for someone throwing it, he sure gave Marciano a kicking.

I'd love to see that fight in full. Archie always claimed that the referee unduly protected Marciano, first he gave him an 8 count, and then prevented Archie for stepping in to finish Marciano when they resumed for no reason.

History could have been very different and Archie's standing in it, if the ref hadn't cocked up and given the standing 8 count. Moore was nothing if not a finisher, and he had incredible punchpower for a man of his size. I haven't yet seen it, but I would wager he would have had a bloody good chance of stopping Rocky if he was as badly hurt as Archie Describes.

Moore, from the little I've seen, was a fearsome finisher, I'm sure he'd have had a great chance. Incidentally, talking about the size thing, does anyone know the difference in weight between Moore and Rocky for that fight? I'm sure I've read somewhere that Moore weighed in heavier, but that really doesn't sound right, even given Marciano's relatively small size.

Moore was heavier, however Marciano was the naturally bigger man, and some of that weight was probably flab.
