Pretty sure you can still get the highlights on tape. Marciano was badly hurt in the first, I seem to remember he drops to the canvas on all fours, and you can see he struggles to get up for awhile.jamesmcdonnell wrote: I haven't yet seen it, but I would wager he would have had a bloody good chance of stopping Rocky if he was as badly hurt as Archie Describes.

Moore by his own admission stated that in many of his fights at heavyweight he was carrying extra bulk. His prime weight was 175 lbs. Actually thinking about it, I think you're right, the fights he was referring to he weighed in around 195+. He took a lot of fights at short notice and although he was a good trainer and dieter did like to eat and drink and live life to the full, and so on occasion came in past his best. You only have to look at his career weights. For his title fights though, I think it's fair to say that he trained seriously.DavidPayne wrote:I doubt very much the weight was flab - Moore was an astonishing speciman and way ahead of his time in terms of monitoring his diet and weight etc - you dont fight at world level way into your forties without a tight discipline.
It's amazing that Archie started at middleweight, he must have been half starved at that weight. As an amateur he started at welterweight!
Moore would have been a fantastic cruiserweight, but then, so would Marciano who never weighed more than 190 in a title fight.

I was taking about my opinion on Hatton's career. He has ducked and ran from all the top fighter while he fought the Vilches/rios/pederson and smiths while Witter/Mitchell/Judah?Mayweather/Harris were all available and all challenged him. My opinion is that he has been very protected and has avoided the top names. That cannot be refuted IMO.
WHAT THE HELL IS SO WRONG WITH THAT OPINION??
As far as the fight not happening. Wait and see. I am convinced he will pull out or do something. (OK, it's not a FACT... but that was a figure of speech of course)
I will set up a meeting w/dontcallitacomeback so he can pay me in person and I will take a few photos for boxrec.
I can obviously understand why my views may come accross as troll like, but only because this is a British board. Do you think that I would get the same treatment on a US board?
No.

The Mayweather v Hatton fight never ever came close to being made, and in truth made no sense to make. Mayweather isn't a draw and had no pedigree at LW, why fight mayweather for no title. I don't see Cotto clamouring to fight mayweather, or Cotto.lirva33 wrote:I was taking about my opinion on Hatton's career. As for Harris, as stated before, it was Harris who pulled out. If you don't believe me, read the recent interviews with Emmanuel Stewart. He states clearly and plainly, that he advised Harris not to take the fight, as he thought it was a bad matchup.
So, who does that leave?
Pinto, didn't board the plane for reasons we can only guess at.
Mitchell, yes I agree Hatton ducked mitchell.
Witter, yes again I agree.
However, if you think Hatton is going to duck Tszyu, then you're going to be 500 quid worse off mate.
As for why your post is being derided, it is because it makes no sense logically for Hatton to pull out. There is nowhere better for him to go.
If you don't believe me, send an email to any of my AMERICAN colleagues at maxboxing, Steve Kim, Doug Fischer, Tom Gerbasi, Jason Probst, ask them whether or not they think the fight will materialise. I dare you.

Come on, Hatton could have forced it through purse bids which Harris WANTED him to do.jamesmcdonnell wrote:The Mayweather v Hatton fight never ever came close to being made, and in truth made no sense to make. I think Kostya dosn't think any opponent can beat him so i don't think it is anything to do with Hatton. He was laughing in a press conference when asked about Hatton's body attack, He smiled and said it is a great feeling to hit someone in the body. He also said he likes to fight opponents that don't run from him and seemed very confident.Kilburn wrote:Good work Jimbo. I find your impression that Kostya doesn't rate Hatton too highly to be very interesting. In this case I don't believe this attitude is anything to gain hope from if you're a Hatton fan, as we've seen down the years - some fighters just know.
