Delayed is a waste of time. Even if you have the willpower to avoid the result, the endless advert breaks and shitty "done later" commentary total ruin the spectacle. Moreover, it just doesn't "feel" right .

I agree if it's done later commentary but years ago a whole generation of fight fans was born largely through delayed TV broadcasts with Reg or Harry there live. I remember Hagler vs Hearns, Mugabi and Leonard were shown primetime on a delayed basis, as well as Sunday repeats of Tyson defences and Mickey Duff shows on the BBC, boxing on free TV is the way forward if we want youngsters to get into the sport, IMHO.

Yeah, re-runs of what was originally a live broadcast are generally not too bad (watching something on You tube, or taped by a friend etc.)

It's still not "the same" though. Watching something without knowing the result , several hours after it has happened- just seems.. odd. Virtually anything of note now is broadcast live.

In a general sense it is also good news because it shows that ITV is still interested in boxing to some degree.

If it's delayed, it depends when delayed is. If they showed it as live at 9 or 10am, that could get a lot of viewers.

I've met Khan lots of times and he is a very nice guy.

I think the issue with showing it live is costs.

I'd imagine a delayed show is much cheaper to do- basically, buy the footage of one off the companies who showed it live, and commentating to a tape recorder etc.
