oh ye of little faith
i precited (on maxboxing) that clinton would win. Hoye was overrated and clinton had all the experience, i didn;t think he would stop him, but he made Hoye look very ordinary tonight and showed all the benefits of his previous fights.
Nice one clinton.

Yes all very wise after the event aren't we gentleman??
Lol only joking, i admit i was wrong i felt Hoye would be more hungry after Woods lapse showings against Johnson and Hoye could bang and loved to come forward and throw plenty of shots, Woods was awesome with his tactics and showed much greater experience...well done Clinton at the fourth attempt
Even his missus got the chance to have her say on TV![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

I'll be honest I had some change on a late Hoye stoppage, seems I seriously overestimated Hoye though and underestimated how much Woods had in the tank. Just had a gut feeling the Johnson fights might have took a lot out of Woods and Hoye was hungry and dangerous enough to put some hurt on Clinton. Glad I was wrong really, wasn't impressed with Calzaghe's gatecrash but Woods/Calzaghe would be a cracking fight.
That was my fault with this one. I thought Woods of 2000 would beat Tarver (at any stage) but I thought with the inactivity and age, that version of Woods would never be with us. I was wrong.Phoenix wrote:and underestimated how much Woods had in the tank.
If Woods can keep this up, he can beat Tarver.

Nah, Rotherham's well out of my catchment area mate, would have loved to have gone, had it been in Leeds or sheffield would have probably gone.
i think that Tarver is an intrinsically lazy fighter, he cannot work hard for 3 minutes of every round, and for all his natural talent that is why he will never amount to that much. He was unlucky to get diddled against Jones in the 1st fight as he earned at least a draw on my card, but he didn't give it maximum effort when he had the chance.
Johnson showed no such hesitancy, he was all over Jones like a paedophile at a nursery and stayed on his ass from round 1 until he knocked him out. Tarver would probably have cruised to another points loss against Jones had he not found that ko punch, but tellingly never came close to finding it against Johnson.
I reckon Johnson will up his workrate in their 2nd meeting and outhustle Tarver more convincingly this time, because I don't see him getting KO'd.
The Woods I saw the other night would have a good shot against Tarver, he threw double the amount of shots Tarver threw in the 1st 5 rounds of any of his fights.

Loynsey, where the English flags disributed at the door. Was it a BBC thing or a Fight Academy thing. It looked good anyway, it did bring home some memories of the glory days of BBC boxing.
I have to say for atmosphere, the best 4 events I have seen on the tele for a number of years have been the four live BBC broadcasts (Walker vs Karmazin, and the 3 Woods world title fights).

Stu - not sure where the flags came from - I certainly wasn't given one!! Was a well promoted show - only down side was the late start of the Woods fight, but as everyone knew beforehand that the BBC were showing it live, you knew what you were getting in to. I was at the Walker fight (another v late start), great atmosphere for the first round but then the crowd knew they were going to see their man get beat at it subsided.stujones wrote:Loynsey, where the English flags disributed at the door. Best atmosphere for a fight I have attended was Barrera v Morlaes III, in the UK probably when Jonny Tapia fought at the York Hall a couple of years ago
