Re: Haye Wins
well haye finally made a believer out of me, that was a clinical performance, and a display of brutal power punching.
Ruiz had no dog in him, but he just couldn't get anywhere near landing anything on haye.

Fantastic performance by Haye. Haye said he'd do it in 9 so did he carry Ruiz?

haye looked class in there tonight, showed good stamina, lightning speed, brutal punch power and his chin held up. i think vitali is way way too slow for haye and haye would beat him up,wlad vs haye will be 50/50 whoever lands first....HAYEMAKER

Good performance Haye; simply to fast, to accurate and to quick for Ruiz
Big ups to Ruiz though, what a warrior!
Still dont rate Haye against the Klitchkos, just feel there jab and experience will prove to much for him
But Well done tonight David

Haye beats Vitali for me. I thought that after his performance against K Johnson and that perofrmance confirms it for me
Vladimir is a different matter though. He will iron Haye out no question in my mind

Re: Haye Wins
Haye really looked the part in there. Did what he had to do against the tough, durable Ruiz. Perfect gameplan for Ruiz style.

Good to see Haye have his timing spot on. He couldn't miss at times. Just a shame he couldn't close the show in style.
Fair play to Ruiz though. He was getting caught with big shots yet never took a step back. Major props to him and I hope he got well paid.

Re: Haye Wins
vitali is quite a lot quicker than he is given credit for, his movement isn't brilliant, but he has quick hands for such a big man.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:haye looked class in there tonight, showed good stamina, lightning speed, brutal punch power and his chin held up. i think vitali is way way too slow for haye and haye would beat him up,wlad vs haye will be 50/50 whoever lands first....HAYEMAKER
I still think he'd have his work cut out against Vitali, but I do think Haye has the power to hit and hurt anyone in the division after that performance. Vitali would land more than Ruiz and harder though.
Im starting to think his chances are better against either of the brothers, but you've got to think that either of them would have beaten Ruiz up in the same amount of rounds.....so let's not all get carried away.

im givin my opinion..im not gettin "carried away" vitali has two punches left jab str8 right.... and you can see them comin from a mile off, haye might not stop him but i think he will beat vitali up,vitali or wlad wouldnt have stopped ruiz i dont thinkjamesmcdonnell wrote:vitali is quite a lot quicker than he is given credit for, his movement isn't brilliant, but he has quick hands for such a big man.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:haye looked class in there tonight, showed good stamina, lightning speed, brutal punch power and his chin held up. i think vitali is way way too slow for haye and haye would beat him up,wlad vs haye will be 50/50 whoever lands first....HAYEMAKER

Re: Haye Wins
I thought it a mature performance from Haye tonight. There were times I wanted him to jump all over Ruiz to put him away but then cast back your mind to the Thompson fight and you can understand why he didn't.
Just kept doing what was working, finding holes to punch through until it was too much for Ruiz.

How long would the John Ruiz of tonight lasted against a 1987 Mike Tyson?

Are you joking? Ruiz tonight was a less mobile version of Arreola who Vitali dominated.

I was very impressed - good fight - Ruiz was game and Haye was impressive - simple as.
Re: Haye Wins
I don`t see that fight setting the heavyweight division alight.
Lets not forget the guys who have already beaten Ruiz ... and a younger, fresher Ruiz at that
The heavyweight division is in a very very bad condition. The boring K-Brothers may dominate it. Haye certainly is not the saviour of it. Looks like we need to keep searching .... :(

How do you figure that? only two men ever went the distance with vitali, and one of them ran like a complete bitch all night long.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:im givin my opinion..im not gettin "carried away" vitali has two punches left jab str8 right.... and you can see them comin from a mile off, haye might not stop him but i think he will beat vitali up,vitali or wlad wouldnt have stopped ruiz i dont thinkjamesmcdonnell wrote:vitali is quite a lot quicker than he is given credit for, his movement isn't brilliant, but he has quick hands for such a big man.MrBoxingUK2 wrote:haye looked class in there tonight, showed good stamina, lightning speed, brutal punch power and his chin held up. i think vitali is way way too slow for haye and haye would beat him up,wlad vs haye will be 50/50 whoever lands first....HAYEMAKER

Re: Haye Wins
Hats off to John Ruiz, he's had a career to be proud of, and a credit to what it means to be a fighter!
Haye "still looks a bit worrying" he might have been coasting(arrogance eventually brings a fall), or he just might not have the finishing tools to lead the division - the Klits are no more greater worry than any of the other top men (giant S-HW's to their advantage), but busier just as strong powerfull fighter/punchers might prove too much for Haye... we shall see!
70s and 40s HWs clean up, not much too compare!!!

Re: Haye Wins
If Wlad is the first Klit i would be prepared to put a good few quid on a Haye ko.
It's amazing how quickly people forget things, look as resent as the Peters fight even, Wlad was all over the shop when he had pressure applied to him,
In fact it's clear Wlad is a bit of a pussy, apply pressure to him (yes i know it's hard to get past teh JAB) and he falls apart
Haye ko imo

Did anyone else notice Haye appearing to spit out his gumshield. During the exchange with ruiz in the corner, just before he knocked him down, Ruiz appeared to nail him with a shot that shook him, and Haye retreated to his corner and then seemed to spit his own gumshield out.
It may have just looked that way though, I can't be sure without seeing it again.

I think Haye was starting to blow a bit and really thought he might just ride it out for a points win, obviously the stamina still isn't great.

Re: Haye Wins
hayes biggest problem fighting the klits, is that he has to sacrifice one of his assets, which is his outside boxing skills. If he fights them from the outside, they are going to jab his head off, which means he will need to find a tactic which allows him to get past the jab and into range, without shipping shots on the way in.
Both men have height and reach advantages which are significant, and that will make Haye's job much harder, as he is best throwing long punches. On the inside, Haye always looks vulnerable, because he throws a lot of looping crosses and hooks, which leaves large gaps when someone is on top of him.
Wlad has a pretty devastating uppercut, and Vitali throws short cuffing shots on the inside, which seem to carry rather more pop than they would suggest on first viewing.

Wlad has a what? Devastating uppercut? Since when? He has no infighting skills at all!
