David Tua
David Tua
Whats next for the Tuamantor?
Anyone have any current news on whats going on, and who is his next opponent?
How would he match up against the world scene at the moment?
his last 2 fights displayed, he still has the Power, and the most current fight against Friday Ahununya showed he is still fit enough to go the distance,
Thoughts guys?

Re: David Tua
I 'm sure he is fighting in Brasil next.... Strange as it sounds
Re: David Tua
The Klits Bros - Not a chance at the moment. Both of them are booked out until the end of the year
Haye - WLad K will be his next fight in Sept.
Peter - Yep, good option. Sam needs a fight as he has been inactive and would be in both fighters interests to get this one done
Arreola & Adamek - Fighting on Sat for the IBF international thingy. You can guess that Wladimar will be requested to take on the winner so Tua could take a fight against the loser
McCall - Why fight McCall?? It will achieve nothing
Chambers - I voted for this one. Good option and winnable
Harrison - No, not a chance. He is the Euro champion and has confirmed that he will face the big Russian Alex Dimitrenko as his manditory around October time once he recovers from shoulder surgury.
Rahman - No No NO
Holyfield - As per McCall

Re: David Tua
didnt he have some current tv deal that would stiff him if he landed a big fight???? i thought that y he was looking to get a couple of lower fights done to get out of the deal and stay active?? im not sure of all the details, but i remember reading soemwhere recently he had a deal signed with a kiwi network, and he would have to pay them some ridiculous % of what he made....
Re: David Tua
David Tua is set to fight American Monte Barrett in Sau Paulo in June 26.

Yep Brazil, in june, more than likely Barrett.
Edit. Should have read Ryans last post!
Re: David Tua
Throw Holyfield in with him and put Evander out of his misery.
Re: David Tua
Tua's current free to air TV deal is a bit of an issue-- so, it's a complicated scenario. He will have to "box for keeps" for his next 2 fights and then hopefully take on the names. In any event expect two big and straight forward KO's for his next 2.....

Re: David Tua

Re: David Tua
yes hopefully after the Maori TV "deal" is done and dusted....
Re: David Tua
yeah, what is that maori TV deal about anyway?Rogue wrote:yes hopefully after the Maori TV "deal" is done and dusted....
Re: David Tua
Tua was released from his previous 2 fight deal prior to the Cameron bout so he and promoters could go ahead on a PPV deal. However Tua "renewed" his deal for a further 3 fights post Cameron with Maori TV which is free to air in NZ. It's complicated and really been in the press with plenty of debate, name calling and what not..... I's complex and there is way more than meets the eye....... cut a long story short, Tua's current NZ promoter's won't be losing money on promoting a big gig without PPV.... simple in that sense of course.
It's complicated though....

Re: David Tua
Word is that Barrett already has two weeks in camp and entered camp in good shape
Re: David Tua
Barrett relies on a knockout punch. He rarely wins on points. His chance of knocking out Tua is practically nil.
Re: David Tua
I've assumed by next you're talking about in three fights time when he is extricated from his contract and can actually fight a big name, I think a fight with Adamek would be a cracker and very winnable for Tuaman.
A win over Adamek would significantly boost his placings on the world stage, it should throw him right back into the world title fray.

Re: David Tua
Yes third fight from now after the TV "Deal" is done. Adamek would be good but I doubt he would want to risk fighting Tua. Tua is in one of the moods where realizes it's literally now or never. He will look to get rid of his next 2 fights quickly and sadly his commercial worth and value can't be comprehended by most people involved in broadcasting his next fights. The advertsing revenue which was generated from his last bout (pathetic) on all time highest rating audience for the network is evidence enough. Like I said the whole "Deal" is complex and politically sensitive..... I've probably said too much. :)dberry wrote:I've assumed by next you're talking about in three fights time when he is extricated from his contract and can actually fight a big name, I think a fight with Adamek would be a cracker and very winnable for Tuaman.

Re: David Tua
U know i'm surprised when lists are done on great fights that Tua vs Ike isn't mentioned, what a fight.
Re: David Tua
dberry wrote:Ike who?
You know Valero's long distant cousin :(
Re: David Tua
There was mention of this name to be brought over to NZ....but immigration will be an issue due his bragging rights of a record :)
Re: David Tua
That fight defined the true meaning of a "toe to toe", or a "punch for punch" fight!Hounddawg wrote:U know i'm surprised when lists are done on great fights that Tua vs Ike isn't mentioned, what a fight.
Awesome fight, heavyweights dont slug it out like that anymore :(
Re: David Tua
Not like that and go twelve rounds any way.harshfriller wrote:That fight defined the true meaning of a "toe to toe", or a "punch for punch" fight!Hounddawg wrote:U know i'm surprised when lists are done on great fights that Tua vs Ike isn't mentioned, what a fight.
