David Tua

Post by 'Frilla »

Whats next for the Tuamantor?

Anyone have any current news on whats going on, and who is his next opponent?
How would he match up against the world scene at the moment?

his last 2 fights displayed, he still has the Power, and the most current fight against Friday Ahununya showed he is still fit enough to go the distance,

Thoughts guys?

The Klits Bros - Not a chance at the moment. Both of them are booked out until the end of the year

Haye - WLad K will be his next fight in Sept.

Peter - Yep, good option. Sam needs a fight as he has been inactive and would be in both fighters interests to get this one done

Arreola & Adamek - Fighting on Sat for the IBF international thingy. You can guess that Wladimar will be requested to take on the winner so Tua could take a fight against the loser

McCall - Why fight McCall?? It will achieve nothing

Chambers - I voted for this one. Good option and winnable

Harrison - No, not a chance. He is the Euro champion and has confirmed that he will face the big Russian Alex Dimitrenko as his manditory around October time once he recovers from shoulder surgury.

Rahman - No No NO

Holyfield - As per McCall

didnt he have some current tv deal that would stiff him if he landed a big fight???? i thought that y he was looking to get a couple of lower fights done to get out of the deal and stay active?? im not sure of all the details, but i remember reading soemwhere recently he had a deal signed with a kiwi network, and he would have to pay them some ridiculous % of what he made....

Tua's current free to air TV deal is a bit of an issue-- so, it's a complicated scenario. He will have to "box for keeps" for his next 2 fights and then hopefully take on the names. In any event expect two big and straight forward KO's for his next 2.....

Tua was released from his previous 2 fight deal prior to the Cameron bout so he and promoters could go ahead on a PPV deal. However Tua "renewed" his deal for a further 3 fights post Cameron with Maori TV which is free to air in NZ. It's complicated and really been in the press with plenty of debate, name calling and what not..... I's complex and there is way more than meets the eye....... cut a long story short, Tua's current NZ promoter's won't be losing money on promoting a big gig without PPV.... simple in that sense of course.

It's complicated though....

Barrett relies on a knockout punch. He rarely wins on points. His chance of knocking out Tua is practically nil.

I've assumed by next you're talking about in three fights time when he is extricated from his contract and can actually fight a big name, I think a fight with Adamek would be a cracker and very winnable for Tuaman.

A win over Adamek would significantly boost his placings on the world stage, it should throw him right back into the world title fray.

Yes third fight from now after the TV "Deal" is done. Adamek would be good but I doubt he would want to risk fighting Tua. Tua is in one of the moods where realizes it's literally now or never. He will look to get rid of his next 2 fights quickly and sadly his commercial worth and value can't be comprehended by most people involved in broadcasting his next fights. The advertsing revenue which was generated from his last bout (pathetic) on all time highest rating audience for the network is evidence enough. Like I said the whole "Deal" is complex and politically sensitive..... I've probably said too much. :)

That fight defined the true meaning of a "toe to toe", or a "punch for punch" fight!
Awesome fight, heavyweights dont slug it out like that anymore :(
