haha, not at all. i see your point though, as golovkin is very, very good. but surely it's worth the risk for a world title (or a portion of one) on, say, american TV?

So I reckon Macklin vs Geale in August in Sydney right now seems like the most likely result for what/where/when Macklin's next fight will be.
Despite the lack of American exposure I do prefer this fight to Mora. Geale carries top 15 rankings with the WBC, WBO, IBF(#7) and Ring and there's a good chance with Macklin's IBF ranking that the fight could be made an eliminator for Sylvester's title. Even if it isn't, the fight increases Macklin's place in the Middleweight division quite heavily despite doing little for him in America.

good point. it's a worthy elim fight. these guys clearly deserve something for their risk, especially when you see guys like mundine apparently bowing out disgracefully. thanks for clearing up the dates.

Geale has lost only to the prickly but gifted Anthony Mundine in a thrilling all-Australia clash in Brisbane last year. Frankly, it could have gone either way. Geale climbed up from a second-round knockdown and pushed Mundine all the way, conceding a 12-round split decision in front of a crowd of 8,000. Geale, 22-1 (13), deserved a rematch but Mundine didn't want to know. The 29-year-old Geale has all the moves, all the combinations and all the handspeed but lacks power and looks a bit 'chinny'. Geale has been down several times.
This explains the long trip for the Macklin, who blasted his way to British and European titles in stunning fashion last year and will have his eyes firmly on that Geale chin. Macklin is one of the most improved fighters in the sport, currently on a winning run of nine and hitting harder than ever.

Got to bear in mind that Macklin has been out of the ring since December now so it will be quite a while out of the limelight if this fight does go ahead. Presumably his broken nose and cuts etc have all cleared up now ? And how much of Freddie Roach's time is he actually getting at the Wild Card ?

interesting that barker might be fighting gevor instead. he's had good practise, against the very similar (in size, stance, style) affif belgecham whom he edged in his last fight.

Gevor is a souped up version of that French lad. I have Barker as underdog, he needs to box and not stand and trade like last time. I hope Barker wins so a certain you-know-who can take his belt. 8)
macklin is strong and also has good boxing skills. he's a clean puncher and i think he could beat mora. mora spent an awful lot of time on the ropes in his last fight, doing a toney imitation. but he was hardly in vs a vassiliy jirov or prince charles williams calibre of aggressor.
