Jr Lightweights: Samuel Serrano vs Edwin Valero

Post by elmersalsa »

Who wins this intriguing matchup of classic boxer vs classic puncher/slugger?

My view is, one punch from Valero and the fight is over.

Although Serrano could be crafty, I think you're probably right. During his title reigns, Serrano largely avoided punchers. Two decent punchers he fought, Uehara and Roger Mayweather, smoked him. He and Arguello were rival junior lightweight champions, but they never met.
I never went overboard on Valero because of his generally weak opposition, but I think he would eventually find Serrano's chin lacking and take him out.

It might take valero 50 rounds to land a punch.

If Serrano makes it thru the first few rds I think he takes a clear decision.
