Khan has only just started to fight at World class level, so Casamayor is an understandable opponent at this stage.

However, it is not a fight I am likely to get excited about.

But let's be right here, he was lucky to squeak past Santa Cruz.... but he did hand Katsidis his first defeat.

That said, I'd say Katsidis is a harder fight nowadays than Joel is. I imagine he will be extremely rusty indeed.

Just trying to pump up his record with named fighters on the slide. If Maidana is injured and Bradley wont play, then i understand that he needs an opponent and one that can be sold to the public..............Just !!

I just hope that it's not a tactic that he uses through-out his career and takes on the named fighters after they have faded or been through too many tough battles. I can imagine Marquez being lined up in 18 months time, as he creeps over the hill. It could be boxing politics, but the fights with Maidana, Bradley and Alexander have to be made and in that mix would be a possible Katsidis fight, along with Ortiz...........

Then he has to move up in weight !!

I would have rather seen Khan fight Katsidis or a lower rated JWW, such as Kaizer Mabuza. Casamayor is on the slide and poses very little threat. It seems to me like a Khan victory is inevitable. I would like Khan to fight guys (preferably fighters 140 or up) who would test him a bit and I don't think this version of Casamayor will do that.

i don't think we should be surprised about these kind of fights. the bradleys and alexanders of the world will probably have to unify with each other, whereas khan will be carefully matched and still get on HBO. "carefully matched" as in good money for fighting lower risk names (not necessarily a criticism).

i agree, a light welterweight would be nice. but if you're khan, then you do get some special treatment. it would be a bit foolish to gun straight for devon alexander though, as no one really knows whom he is and he'll make his living from drawing flies and HBO licence fee. khan is much more well known, is an olympic medallist and has more to lose (IMO).
