fighters past or present who like a woodbine?
fighters past or present who like a woodbine?
Hi Chaps,
Just bit bored and was thinking of fighters who smoke and still maintain boxing career, i can think of mayorga , who apparently smokes like a chimney, james toney (cigars) and kirkland laing who smoked the herbal variety.
Just curious cause train myself and do like the occassional ciggie

Monzon was a chain smoker. Dave McAuley also smoked.

Eamon Magee.
Bruno admitted to smoking a spliff after every fight to unwind. Did John Murray say something about smoking weed as well? And of course, mike tyson tested positive for it.
Benn would have a crafty fag on and off but wouldnt class himself a "smoker".

Daniel Zaragoza smoked, and Mayorga.
Going back a bit, world champ Lionel Rose smoked a pipe

Forget Darcy, Carruthers or Fenech, Rose is the greatest Australian fighter ever. He had the cruel misfortune as world champion to run into a 52-0 Ruben Olivares in Los Angeles, and Olivares ruined him.MightyWarrior wrote:Daniel Zaragoza smoked, and Mayorga.

Olivares, of course, is one of the greatest Mexican fighters ever.

Re: fighters past or present who like a woodbine?
Its 'interesting' that there has only ever been 1 boxing pipe smoker of the year (Pipe Smoker of the Year, or PSotY, is my new 'thing' by the way, and won't be going away) but 2 cricketers have had the honour.
