Does anyone feel Kell Brook will fall when he steps up?
Does anyone feel Kell Brook will fall when he steps up?
i'v watched quite a few of his fights and i dont see the buzz around this kid, his punching power is ok but it its nothing special, his defence is awful hands below the waist and i'm of the belief that his chin is suspect and i really think most of the fighters boxrec has listed in there top 20 will most likely KO him, there are several fighters saul Alvarez has beat that would likely KO him IMO
Re: does any1 feel kell brook will fall when he steps up?
Hard to say , until it actually happens. Jennings will be a good test for him, I'd hope, as Jennings is a capable British level fighter.
Re: does any1 feel kell brook will fall when he steps up?
couldn't you write anyone, instead of any1? My my my.
Anway, i think he is one of these guys who is going to improve as he fights better opposition, he seems to have a few more gears to go through. I mean against bienias he looked sluggish to me. But it wasn't much of a challenge, as Bienias threw about one meaningfull punch all night to be honest

The Jones win was a good one, I think that Kell is the next good domestic Ingle fighter - he's not world class for me and Jennings will beat him
Re: does any1 feel kell brook will fall when he steps up?
Jennings is a very nicely schooled boxer so if Kell impresses against him, things are looking good for his future prospects.

Jeff, finally...
I honestly agree.
Well, I said when the initial match up was made Jennings was too slick for him, and he has amazing stamina, a decent chin, workrate and a brilliant attitude.
With all the delays I'm hoping he's still as sharp as he was and can bring that too Brook. I fancy him to beat Kell over 12 if he can avoid the early bombs.

Good - yes.
World class? no.
You gotta think about who else is out there at 147... Berto, Mosely, Mayweather, then Cotto, Williams, Margarito, Pacquiao, Cintron etc all can make the weight too.

his chin isn't suspect iv never seen him wobbled have you? brook would put saul alvarez too sleepp imo, cotto's fat little brother had alvarez badly hurt and he is a lightweight!!!!!!! i see brook stopping jennings in 6 and going onto be a good world chapiondoctor wrote:i'v watched quite a few of his fights and i dont see the buzz around this kid, his punching power is ok but it its nothing special, his defence is awful hands below the waist and i'm of the belief that his chin is suspect and i really think most of the fighters boxrec has listed in there top 20 will most likely KO him, there are several fighters saul Alvarez has beat that would likely KO him IMO
Re: does any1 feel kell brook will fall when he steps up?
Thing is, is the Jennings fight a true test, because Jennings has been out for so long?
Re: does any1 feel kell brook will fall when he steps up?
he was down and hurt against a Bulgarian euro-bum the worst of the worst and since then he hasnt fought any1 with more then a 40% ko ratioHomeOfBritishBoxing wrote:his chin isn't suspect iv never seen him wobbled have you? brook would put saul alvarez too sleepp imo, cotto's fat little brother had alvarez badly hurt and he is a lightweight!!!!!!! i see brook stopping jennings in 6 and going onto be a good world chapiondoctor wrote:i'v watched quite a few of his fights and i dont see the buzz around this kid, his punching power is ok but it its nothing special, his defence is awful hands below the waist and i'm of the belief that his chin is suspect and i really think most of the fighters boxrec has listed in there top 20 will most likely KO him, there are several fighters saul Alvarez has beat that would likely KO him IMO

Considering who the main title holders currently are at Welter, Brook would currently stand very little chance at all if he got a world title shot. He'd get schooled.
As for the Saul Alvarez debate. Alvarez has proven himself against much higher opposition than Brook has fought. I'd take Alvarez over Brook for sure.

Kell Brook is a very good exciting fighter - but, he really comes across as an accident waiting to happen.
He may well have the punch and ability to dramatically beat some top guys. Though I feel he could just as easilly come apart against a decent puncher lacking in half as much ability as himself.
He seems to be missing that extra little bit of specialness that most other Ingle fighters have had - and possess almost all of their weak points.

I regard Kel Brook as perhaps the brightest talent we have in the UK - met him before he even went professional and people were raving about him them and I highly respect their opinions.
Now he has had a few fights as a professional - I think he is an excellent fighter who will do very well for himself.
Re: does any1 feel kell brook will fall when he steps up?
brook is an excellent prospect who gas had far too much for the men he has faced. With respect; Jennings is at least a league above any of those men. Brook has very good power, is accurate and cuts the ring well. He does have his faults though.; as has Jennings. I think Jennings will jab and move + he has a very decent counter hook. I'm betting on the fight going over 6 rounds and Jennings is by far the more qualified in proven staying power. He'll win the last 6 rounds.
