I mentioned it on the thread about Kindelan - but this needs it own thread.

Fantastic performances by the 6 lads who were victorious. Did anybody go to this event?

Here are the results. Its from the BBC website, so I hope there are no errors.

Ian Lewinson ENG bt Leovan Hernandez CUB - Pulled out with injury 3rd.

Conor Ahern IRE bt Ivan Perez CUB 35-13.

Karl Brabazon IRE bt Jorge Herrera CUB 17-14

David Oliver Joyce IRE bt Osieri Hernandez CUB 27-7

Eric Donovan IRE bt Argelio Hernandez CUB 28-16

Andy Lee IRE bt Yordanis Despaigne CUB 13-8 (thought he would gain revenge).

Wamalki Aguilar CUB bt Stuart Langley ENG 28-12

Luis Pons CUB bt Ian Timms IRE 21-11.

Well done to the winners, hard luck to the British losers. Look how much we have learned in a short space of time - what confidence will this give the British fighters in future tornaments. The Cubans are fanastic, but fight very much at their own pace and don't like fighting on the back foot - you have got to go on the offensive to beat them. Looks like Lee has twigged that and so has a few of the other respesentives.

The Irish lads done really well 4 wins from 5 and what a win for Ahern against Perez and this is when here in Ireland amateur boxing is supposedly going through bad times hopefully this will bring on more success
Good win also for the English Super Heavy Lewinson

Was that the same guy who Pryce beat last week? He wasn't that good to be honest.

Yes but Ahern showed up last minute as a replacement for a flu-hit Egan and to go in and win like he did on such a late call deserves credit

Pryce was the Super Heavyweight. I wasn't talking about Ahern's fight - but Ian Lewinson's.

You can tell I was out last night if I misread Pryce as Perez.
I wasnt sure what to make of Lewinson either last week but on watching the fight on Irish TV last night I thought that it was a close fight and evenly balanced until the Cuban dislocated his shoulder
