Rank these heavyweights

Post by Ambling Alp »

Thought this might be interesting.
They weren't the very best heavyweights, but they were all very good. I thought they were all at least remotely close.

Rank them from best to worst. (Don't factor in anything they did at lower weight classes.)

James J.Corbett
Bob Fitzsimmons
Max Schmeling
Jack Sharkey
Max Baer
Ezzard Charles
Jersey Joe Walcott
Floyd Patterson
Ken Norton

Factoring in accomplishments or just who beats who? I think putting them on their best night the likes of Walcott, Baer, Norton, Charles, Schmeling,Sharkey, and Corbett could've all beaten each other . . very evenly matched. I view Floyd and Fitz as a slight level below head to head.

I guess really don't like the word "accomplishments" when rating fighters because I think many count paper titles as accomplisments.

Who had the best heavyweight career? ie- Factors b such as who beat the best opponents, the least bad losses etc. as well as looked the best on film taking into consideration that not much is available for Corbett and Fitz.
