Loses to all of them but splits fights with Patterson

Well, you may be right, but I think he springs a surprise or two.dempseyfire wrote:Loses to all of them but splits fights with Patterson
I think Schmeling and Patterson are his two most likely victims.
As a Frazier man, I would be a little nervous for the first two rounds or so before I start relaxing. Ernie's right hand does worry me.

DempseyFire is about right, IMO. There's a clue to how good Shavers was in your own statement --- "he springs a surprise or two," & that's exactly what he'd need to do. Shavers wasn't as good as any of the men on your list.yancey wrote:Well, you may be right, but I think he springs a surprise or two.dempseyfire wrote:Loses to all of them but splits fights with Patterson

I'm just saying with that big right hand the surprise possibility exists.
Think Ingemar Johannson-Floyd Patterson, 1959, NY, NY.
Re: Ernie Shavers vs
Always has the puncher's chance, but I don't see him beating any of them.
Patterson? He just wasn't as precise as Sonny, but if he connected it could happen.
Could be similar to the Floyd Ingemar sessions.

No one is disagreeing with you, & I'm not accusing you of anything.yancey wrote:Never thought that Shavers was as good as any of them.Goodnight, Irene wrote:DempseyFire is about right, IMO. Shavers loses to all of them, thought there would be a few slugfests in those fights mentioend above.
