I know young 12 year old Naseem Hamed was so besotted by the style and flamboyance of Camacho who at 25 was in his prime back than, that he took to modelling his whole persona on Hector.Everything from the trunks and the silly effeminate jeri curl at the front of his hair. But he didnt have hectors looks or natural style.

Im amazed more people didnt pick naseem up on it. But I guess it was the pre internet age in the UK back in 1993-98.

its a good idea bringing hector over, but I really think the promoters/organisers of this should check

a) hector isnt violating any parole ruling
b) he will get a visa to come into the UK given his drugs and crime past
c) he doesnt owe any alimony or child agency payments.

Hector is a great fighter and inspiration. A man still winning and active in his late 40's. he has become a role model on how to last long in this business. No one ever saw hector get beat up. He's still pretty at 48-49 and he's still a bad mutha who could knock out anyone on this forum.A true legend with more talent in his prime than 90% of fighters who ever lived

He was horribly slurred, Mugabi, and there were rumours of cocaine abuse. I like Camacho. He has a great chin, New York balls, and quick hands; however, he also has a trashy side to him. Nobody is perfect.

True.I was being a bit harsh there, but I did hear an intereview with Emmanuel Steward that said a young up and coming whitacker absolutely hammered Hector, although sparring is not the same as a real bout.I thought Chavez had his measure though.

Oh yeah my relatively long amateur career is 20-15 years gone and my dabbling in judo means nothing. Hector is another level even at 48. Even if id been a pro and was 25 now hector would still smash my face in. He's a bad mutha.

Hitman, you're contradicting yourself. Chavez did indeed dominate and as a result Camacho had to suck up more sustained punishment than he'd ever had to in his career to date - he wasn't able to run and avoid being hit. People who'd questioned his heart were therefore suprised that he stayed in there for 12 when it was so one-sided it would have been easy to quit at some stage.
There's a difference between a boxer who "fights scared", as Camacho was accused of doing post-Rosario on the basis that even when he was winning fights we wouldn't commit for fear of being caught, and a fighter who is forced into 'survival' mode simply because he is outgunned by a superior opponent.
On this occasion while Camacho switched into survival mode once he realised there was no way to win the fight, he still chose to hang in for the full 12 rather than quit on his stool, for example.

i agree with des, there are many fighters who ended up quitting against JCC after the kind of beating Camacho took off him.
