Make your mind up eh, Mr new user??
like a said imo he did not win the fight i think victor l. got it spot on,and by the way i would bet smith in a rematch evry day of the week ,think there is stil a barrel load of improvement to come

No like you said, each fight should be scored rd by rd, then you said a challenger should win well.

correct, but if rounds are tight then quite often as a fight fan i have seen the champ getting the nod, especialy in the champs backyard ,hence the previous quote

Christ, 16-0 puts u on the verge of a world title shot in LHW division LOL...

Maybe a tune up with Bellew before Smith though eh!!!

I thought both fights the other night showed everything that's good about boxing...great crowd, evenly matched opponents and a decision for everyone to debate. The fight was very close, but you can't give points to a boxer cos he's a champion. All this stuff about having to rip the belt away is bollox...whoever wins the fight wins the fight and I thought Stephen shaded it but i wouldn't have been surprised to have seen Simpson's or both hands raised at the end.

I'm delighted for Swifty, great future for him hopefully. Simpson will get more opportunities, maybe starting with Lindsay?

to be honest with you it's down to the judges if they get swayed or intimidated by the crowd, in boxing it is somewhat expected to an extent, but no way is it paramount in who DESERVES the fight.

Very hard not to be swayed by the crowd etc, I just don't go in for the ripping the belt away from the champion stuff. It might be too simplistic a view but you've got to judge the fight as if they are both challengers, which essentially they are once the first bell goes.

This was a very tough fight to score - I had Swifty one round up.

It was a good close fight which neither side could have argued whatever the result - it was one of them.

I thought Smith was humble in his interview and at least he offered a possible rematch in the future - which would be another good fight.

Guys - the fight result was hardly the controversy of the century.
Im not knockin smith ,i agree he gave a great interview and to offer rematch was very decent of him,but i always believed that to take the belt from the champ in his own backyard you had to go there and win well, and imo he did not do that. simpson again on the wrong end of tight call and he must be gutted never seems to get any of the close calls surely as champ he deserved that.
So pal disagree - if the champion is that good he will do even better in his own backyard!!!
