Does John Ruiz Belongs in the All-Time Heavyweight 100???

Post by elmersalsa »

Does this guy belongs in the all-time heavyweight 100??? I want your opinions about this MEDIOCRE.

I found right off the bat, 69 heavyweights (past and present) that are or were better than him. When I search the records of the heavyweight fighters, I got right now 100 more and counting.

Because a boxer has won 2 titles does not mean he's great or good. Probably LUCK AND CORRUPTION WAS INVOLVED.

I don't think so, but I do believe he could really go down as the worst heavyweight champion ever though! That's about all of my opinion that I will waste on Ruiz!

There really haven't been all that many good heavyweights throughout history. Ruiz has some very good wins, despite his ugly style. He's probably among the best 100 heavyweights of the last 120 years.

Beat Oquendo, golota, Holyfield, Rahman (in the first try, not the second :TU: )

Yes, he is a top 100. But definitely not a top 30. His style is ugly, but he can fight.
If he is so bad, how come he has beaten so many guys?

You actually believe that the Quiet Man's "marketability" is what's kept him in the top ten for so long? If you weren't an editor, I'd tell you to fornicate off, but I won't do that.

No it certainly isn't his marketability because Ruiz is the most painful fighter to watch in history! I'd almost rather have my fingernails ripped out with pliers as opposed to watching a John Ruiz fight all the way through (except the Tua bout), which I'm sure that I am not alone in that feeling, except maybe for people who have John Ruiz as their cybername! It's the fact that he is a Don King fighter and regardless of how ridiculous Ruiz's claim to a portion of the heavyweight title is Don King controls three of the four most recognized belts, which is a powerful asset for any promoter and it something that Don King certainly will not let go of easily whether it is for the good of boxing, or in honest fairness to a boxer that truly earns it, even though Ruiz has done nothing to earn it he has King in his corner! Why the hell do you think that the WBA automatically gave the belt back to John Ruiz after Roy Jones bitch-slapped him for 12 rounds? It certainly wasn't because he earned it, it was because he had Don King...plain and simple! Also, I might actually be a little offended if it was someone who mattered at all that told me to fornicate off, but being that it wasn't, well what else is there to say?

Sorry, I have a bad day today. What I'm trying to say is that there is no logical reason for Ruiz to win fights via crooked judges because no one wants him to win. Golota, who is a much more marketable fighter than Ruiz, lost to him in a fight many seem to believe was fixed to Ruiz' benefit. This just isn't possible. (Personally, I think the fight should've been a NC as both fighters looked absolutely awful.)

I could not said it better barry, THIS IS THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.

Another TRUTH is there is 2 more in my list better than Ruiz: James Toney and Tom Sharkey, 2 hall of famers in their own right. :TU: :TU: :TU:

Agree :TU:

Whilst not most peoples favourite, he did have some good wins.

Top 100? Not by a long shot. Ruiz would have been a club fighter in most eras.
