Saw him yesterday and he really needs to pack it in. I probably did exactly the same thread a few years ago.

Whilst I would tend to agree, I suppose it can also be argued that if the guy is fit to box, who are we to deny him the right to make a living? If he can get fights, good luck to him.

All well and good saying if hge's fit to box. let him, but these guys need saving from themselves. Being punched in the head isn't good for you. Just because he hasn't failed a brain scan yet doesn't mean there aren't problems down the road.

Karl was a tough little pro in his early years and secured a shot at the British lightweight title. I've watched him a few times in recent years and he still makes a fight of it. The age factor is insulting. Karl feels the same but you view him differently.

"Karl feels the same". If he thinks he is the same now as he was in his twenties, he must be utterly deluded. Karl is 44 but could reasonably pass as 60+ if you saw him in the street.
Boxing is not a sport for people in their mid-40s at the best of times, especially if they are just getting beaten.

The age thing is only part of it. He isn't really making a fight of it any more, I don't think. I don't want to see him end up like Clakka.

I've seen Karl lose many a fight he could have won, including one with the world-rated Ashley Theophane. Karl knows how to keep himself employed, and besides, he doesn't get paid any more for winning - and what's wrong with looking 60-plus?

Really? I haven't seen him win a round in about five years. True I do only usually see him fight prospects on bigger shows, but still. I see he doesn't have a W on the first page of his record now.

Promoters shouldn't really use him anymore, given that he doesn't actually offer a test to even the most average prospect.

It's these type of journeymen that hamper the sport in my opinion. The uninitiated fan attending his first show would probably be sickened to see a man that looks like their grandad fighting a young lad in his early 20's.

True, he's doing the job he is hired to do.

Whether thats for the good of the sport, or the fans, is a different question.

Just noticed, he once fought Mark Anthony in the Collessum*, I didn't know he was THAT old.
