Problem is, I think he may get laid out again.... although I hope he doesn't.
Will people stop knocking him now?
Come on Amir!
No. If he wins, the critics will just say Maidana was a one-dimensional slugger who couldn't even stop a shot DeMarcus Corley.Happy Slapper wrote:Will people stop knocking him now?
I can see the fight now, maidana gets knocked down, gets up and is fine only for khan to unload a super fast flurry of eye catching punches......fight over without even getting hit properly then tells us all that there is nothing wrong with his chin because he just beat a massive puncher.Happy Slapper wrote:Credit to Amir for taking the Maidana fight - I didn't think he would.

No, not really. He is much better than Maussa.dbf wrote:Is Maidana a bit like Carlos Maussa - one good stoppage win over a known 140 pounder but crude with a limited skill set?

It's a massive improvement on Amirs trend of fighting small-punching or lower weighted fighters......... I agree he shouldn't be getting credit for fighting this type of opponent as it should be the nornm (in our eyes), but in the same breath he could've wormed out of this fight if he wanted to.tonyevs wrote:G0mez wrote:Is this thread for real ?

Exactly

I don't think Khan has shown any weaknesses in the chin department since losing to Prescott, in fact I'd wager it's better now he's fighting at the higher weight. While he'll never be Marvin Hagler in the chops area I don't think he's as vulnerable as people make out. Plus, the defensive improvements he's made stand him in good stead for if he does get hurt. Also, apart from the Prescott debacle he showed he could fight back after being hurt too.tonyevs wrote:People can now start hedging their bets by taking some cedit away from Maidana - but Khan will remain in constant danger as long as Maidana is standing.
Maidana is very crude - but can punch hard enough to ko the fragile chinned Khan at anytime.
Khan is superbly skilled and looks fantastic on offence - but has that terrible flaw of his legs turning to jelly with the slightest tap.
Khan does not deserve great credit for taking this fiight - its the type of fight champions should be taking anyway.
