I think I'm farked if we are betting on boxing......And boys don't forget the cycling and team sports like Hockey,Basketball, netball and pretty much nearly evrey other team sport, and apparently a pole vault world champ, Oh and we kick ass at shooting as well. Shitt boys we just kick the commonwealths ass when it comes to atheletes!!! GB have prepared well for the 2012 Olympics and they did finally beat Australia at the last Olympics and pretty sure it was the first time Australia wasn't in the top 5.

Hooper looked good. Apparently the Comm games are just as hard in the middleweight class as the Olympics or world am championship when the number 1 fighter in the world is from India???????????????

I'm a pom, and am in england at the mo. but fly out in 2 weeks thank the lord! I'm over in Brisbane between 19th nov. and 1st dec for the 1st ashes test so I'm hoping there be some pro boxing in either brizzie or the gold coast, been getting into amateur boxing during these commonwealth games, if there's no pro boxing during the 2 weeks I'm there do you know where best to find any amateur shows??

Yeah he looked good a right show-boater with a bit of a dig aswell, he soon put his hands up when the guy caught him in the final round though.

It seems like points are only rewarded when good straight rights are landed, ive seen some good body shots and stiff jabs that were not even noticed.

Yeah he looked good a right show-boater with a bit of a dig aswell, he soon put his hands up when the guy caught him in the final round though.

Yep that left hook wobbled him, he then kept his hands up for the last round.

This is about the body shots, but an old trainer of mine actually told me not to punch to the body in amateur. He said very few judges will score body shots if at all. After my own fights and watching different amateur fighting (local, national, international etc) he was pretty much right. I don't understand why but it seems to be the way things are.

For a boxer to score points, he must hit the head or body of his opponent, above the belt, with the knuckles of his gloves.
Each ringside judge has a computer scoring button to press for each boxer, and three of the five must hit their button within one second of each other for the point to register.
When boxers are fighting up close, called infighting, a point is awarded to the boxer with the best of the exchanges.
Non-scoring blows include punches that infringe the rules, punches that use any part of the glove except the knuckles, and those which do not have the weight of the body or shoulder behind them.

I think with these games we can forget about any decent scoring to the body. I have seem some guys dominate tpo the body and not score a point for their entire match.
