Secondly - he is a fat little Chav who goes round cheating on his bird, drink himself to death and snorting loads of coke.

I'll remember him for being a good body puncher who rode Frank warrens cash cow until he thought he was an elite fighter. Then we all know he got destroyed and spent the last 4 years of his career as a one punch then clinch machine.

The man is a mess.
Lol he fought 3 of the best fighters to ever grace the jr / welter weight divisions. He was definatley a fighter at the top end of the sport. He beat tszyu and outclassed alot of world class boxers. Does loosing to Manny and PBF make you shite? Best we lable 90% of the weights modern greats as - "good fighters and nothing more. At the top end of scale they have been hammered and not even competative."

That cotto was a 2nd rater! what about that mosley? nah he was wank! JMM what a joke? The mighty POB? what a retard.

Kosta Tszyu was a great Top 10 fighter, he may have been on the descent but was still the favourite to win by a large margin.

Your limited knowledge and your limited amount of posts make you some one to definitely ignore. Mug

So you can't actual list the many world class men he "outclassed " can you. Ou can actually only list an old kosta.

Thanks for proving me right.

Its not Kosta its kostya- and you have to let someone write a reply before writing - thanks for proving me right.

Malignaggi
Urango
Castillo
Collazo

If you're next post is going to state that world champions with 53 ko's to their name or, 2 time world champions and the like arent world class. Just like the silly comments you've made about Hatton - unified world champion, WBA super champion and ring magazines fighter of the year - not being quite world class. Then maybe you should stop posting on this ste and go back to trolling whatever site you usually troll on.

mguigan boxed a old drained pedroza who fought at lightweight after they boxed.

stracey boxed a shot napoles.

& tzyu's last performance before hatton was a crushing win over sharmbay mitchell who previously gave him nightmares before pulling out injured, so he had improved on a performance against a champion & it looked like he would smash hatton & he never.

If using cocaine makes you a sad junkie you would have to apply that to Sugar Ray Leonard and many other ex-fighters too.

McGuigans resume is far superior to Hattons in regards opposition - McGuigan defeated a prime Juan LaPorte and beat one of the best fighters never to win a world title in Bernard Taylor. Bernard Taylor was a brilliant fighter and it was a crying shame that he never won the world title.

This is true. Although I do agree with hurlock that Hatton's win over Tszyu is one of the worst victims of hindsight. People act like it was Williams beating Tyson when in actual fact Kostya was easily placed top ten p4p at the time. Yes the ref was bad and Tszyu retired afterwards but a lot of people thought it wouldn't go three rounds.

Napoles wasn't shot in any way, shape or form, past his best? Yeah fair enough but his only defeat in the half a decade before the Stracey fight was up at middleweight against Carlos Monzon.

It cracks me up when people try and diminish Hatton's achievement by saying Tszyu was "shot" or "old". NOBODY predicted a Hatton victory before the fight. Even the British press said that it was a step up too far for him, that Tszyu would outclass him or nail him with that deadly right hand like he had done to so many others. If I'm not mistaken, Tszyu was #2 or 3 in The Ring's p4p rankings at the time. It's easy to get wise after the event.

Regardless of anyone's opinion on the fight itself, I was at the MEN that night and the atmosphere was like nothing else I've experienced. There's drawing a crowd, and then there's drawing a crowd like THAT. Then he went over to the USA and they loved him there too. You don't get that if you're not a top-level fighter.

But how many impressionable kids will now be inspired to snort cocaine in "industrial quantities?"

Has he lost weight or has his missus just, as it looks, been to soccer worlkd to buy him some supsiciously looking new clobber in XXL to make him look thinnner. No one said Coke made you put weight on, did they?

@Boxingchat
Didnt your employers promote a "sad Junkie" as you would call it in Johnny Tapia ?

The mighty POB wrote:Let's look at the facts ;

Ricky was a good fighter at his peak, not great and certainly not elite or even near.

His best win was against an old shot kosta. Since that fight he fought horribly, one punch / clinch, ref breaks it, one punch clinch. - his last 4/5 fights have been awful and was seconds away from being knocked out by collazo. Apart from the kd collazo dominated him.

At elite level he was destroyed by PAC and floyd.

Between fights when he was at his peak he was putting on more than 3.5 stone and being a lager / pie man. His trainers told him this ruining his health and his ability to fight but still he ignores it. Now he is a coke head, lager lout and is snagging round behind his birds back.

The man is a Chav, and a walking mess. He needs to sort his act out and stop saying I'm rocky from a council estate etc etc.

To summarise a good fighter at his peak, not elite and under just under world. As a man he is a mess and needs to take a look at himself.
this makes me laugh. not world class wether you like it or not he was he was a 5/6 time world champion in two different weight classes and he failed to beat 2 elite fighters, some people class juan manuel marquez as an elite fighter i think ricky would have beaten jmm at 140.

bernard taylor :!: i remember the fight & remember my parent's saying how teak tough he was, but he got done :!:

pedroza had a grey moustache :!: & napoles was well gone, he was still dangerous but never had no second wind or much fight left in him.
hatton's win rank's higher imo.

honeyghan's pissses over all of them also :TU:

Sadly the BBBoC got rid of one potential avenue for structure.

Yes but at least they left him his promoters licence which certain rival promoters wanted stripped from him.

Bloody hell, there can't be many fighters you class as world level then?

45-2 (32) record
Won IBF title with win over a top 10 p4p Kosta Tzyu
Won WBA title in his next fight
Stepped up a weight and beat (albeit a close fight) WBA welter champion Collazo
Became first man to stop the world rated Pauli Mallignaggi
His only losses coming to the two boxers vying for best boxer p4p in the world (one at a higher weight)

Say what you like about Ricky being a bad example or a bad pro but to say he wasn't a world level fighter is ridiculous.

Couldnt agree more. Im sure a few of us on here have indulged in a bit of the devils dandruff from time to time but we get over it and move on(i dont touch it with a bargepole anymore). Ricky was a true peoples champion and i hope he moves on from all this and has a successfull career in whatever he does.
