Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
just watched a david haye interview on sky sports news....did i hear him say "i had alot of money on the 3rd round and so did my friends and family"...if that is what i heard are boxers allowed to bet on themself??
Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
The thing is Ali said it BEFORE the fight; not after. Haye himself has made the non event questionable.U.F.O wrote:What about Ali when he was saying this stuff 40 odd years ago, It's not like it's anything new
you can do it if you are in a different league to your opponent, happens in all sports

Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
Even if he did bet on himself, no rules have been broken
the way people are going on you would think he was fighting himself
,
it was by no means a garenteed winning bet was it.

We need a boxing expert like FLINT ISLAND to confirm this one way or another.

Problem is mate demsey was fighting 100 years ago, this is 2010 this sort of shit should not be happening today, its a disgrace to boxing fans.jonp wrote:Theres no rules topping a boxer betting on himself it been happining for years from jack dempsey against willard up to lloyd honeyghan against curry jut usualy they arnt confident enough to name the round.john welsh wrote:No,no they aren`t.The_Hayemaker wrote:just watched a david haye interview on sky sports news....did i hear him say "i had alot of money on the 3rd round and so did my friends and family"...if that is what i heard are boxers allowed to bet on themself??

Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
Look the only problem with this fight was it was a total mismatch as most people realised.
If it hadn;t have been, well he wouldn't have been able to toy with this opponent would he.

Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
What he's done is really no different to the likes of Ali/Naz predicting which rounds they would ko their opponents in. The fact that he's bet on it makes no difference IMO.
End of the day, if Audley had actually tried punching this probably wouldn't even be an issue.

Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
What a moron John Welsh is. He pays to watch a knock out artist fight a man three levels (at least) below him, who also has a suspect chin and who has always fought tentative. And then when it's a demolition job he thinks the whole thing's a fix. Incredible!
Promoters have a job to do: sell fights. They sold this by trying to build up the idea that Harrison had a chance and that there was some kind of "needle" between the two. Nobody I know whose opinion on boxing I respect thought that Harrison had a chance.
I didn't.
And he didn't land a single punch.
But you paid your money and you got a very exciting demolition job. People did it for Tyson against similar opposition. Not a rip off. Certainly not a fix.

To be fair it was a bit different with Tyson , i paid for several that ended up as 1st or second round blowouts but dont really remember feeling dissapointed , maybe the overall cards were good , i dont remember , i think in those days you paid to see tyson the animal destroy his opponents .

But Ruiz is better than Harrison; Barrett is better than Harrison. I think they were put over a combined nine times.damianhucker1 wrote:To be fair it was a bit different with Tyson , i paid for several that ended up as 1st or second round blowouts but dont really remember feeling dissapointed , maybe the overall cards were good , i dont remember , i think in those days you paid to see tyson the animal destroy his opponents .Carbo wrote:What a moron John Welsh is. Everyone knew that not only was Harrison several levels below in quality -- that he'd never been in with anyone like as good as Haye, and had lost to far, far worse, and been rocked by far, far lighter punchers -- but that he was a tentative fighter against a man who has rocked and put down men with good chins.
This was known.
I watched, because I wanted to see how Haye did the demolition job, to be honest.
To say it was fixed -- dear God!
Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
Groves, post fight interview, one hour before the Haye fight "Thanks for telling me about the round David" - Adam Smith - "what's this, what round??" Groves "can't tell you that" Booth going white, making cutting gestures...
Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
Haye talked about him and family betting days ago, think
I read it in The Sun

Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
The biggest fix was Sky convincing people this was a fair fight. Won £700 on this tonight.......should have bet more.
Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
Yeah, anyone that even talked up Audley is a complete mug.
Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
In all the years I have followed boxing I have only ever known one other example of a big fight having a victor that there was no doubt about - hatton v pbf
But just like that one, people bought into lies and false promoting. Hatton would not have won that fight if he had a shotgun, ditto Harrison.

Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
There have never been any problems with any sports person betting on himself to win with a bookies.
They are happy to take bets like this, why wouldn't they be ???.
There are a million and one things that could have stopped Haye Collecting tonight, it's still gambling .
betting on yourself to lose in sport is the big problem.
alot of sports governing bodies have banned gambling altogether as a result.
but boxing is not one of them and
Haye's done nothing wrong, other than taking an easy fight.

Audley had bet on 3 round too! Haye full of bs
when will he fight next?

Re: David haye fixed the fight pure and simple
The predicted lack of A-Force did win me a few bears tonight. Audley did manage to win 1 round despite only throwing 1 punch.
He tried to cover up and use his defense, but it was never guna happen
