Pretty good, but not sure about the last two.
I would be more inclined to consider - Hope, Minter, Andries, and maybe Robinson over them (currently).
Its close but for accomplishments, I'd be inclined to swap Hatton and Hamed (very close though).

Re: post 1980 British P4P top ten....
those last two were pretty difficult to nail down....there's a lot that could be there....i put amir in because of the age when he won the title and the fact that he appears to be mixing with the elite already...stujones wrote:Pretty good, but not sure about the last two.

I would be tempted to put Honeyghan above Haye as i think that Lloyds win over Don Curry far exceeds any win on Hayes record.

honeyghans win is probably the greatest of them all :!:boxer70 wrote:I would be tempted to put Honeyghan above Haye as i think that Lloyds win over Don Curry far exceeds any win on Hayes record.
if he was more liked the win would be more appreciated i feel.

Re: post 1980 British P4P top ten....
Froch should be in before Khan
Re: post 1980 British P4P top ten....
Not a bad list.
I'd have Khan at no 2 though, or level with Lennox.

I think honeyghans win over curry was the single best win by a british fighter ever, nobody gave him even a slight chance but he totally dominated curry and finished him as a top class fighter

It's got to be up there hasn't it? I guess the only question mark over it is how much Curry was affected by making the weight. Either way it's surely out of that and the first fight between Turpin and Robinson. Stracey's win in Mexico was a bit special as well.bigjack wrote:hurlock wrote:honeyghans win is probably the greatest of them all :!:boxer70 wrote:I would be tempted to put Honeyghan above Haye as i think that Lloyds win over Don Curry far exceeds any win on Hayes record.

Please tell, you saying you would have Khan at NO.2 is a wind up?

Good call on Duke. There should be room for him.Kilsby wrote:Nothing going down for Duke McKEnzie on accomplishments?

Hide never beat anyone good though.
Bruno's best performance in either victory or defeat was against Lewis..... after that it was probably one of his other losses too.
Other than Bowe I can't see Bruno losing to anyone Hide faced, though he might have a bit of bother with Vitali before getting the job done.

Vitali would have taken care of Bruno IMO.LeedsLad wrote:Hide never beat anyone good though.

yes its a windup
Re: post 1980 British P4P top ten....
You could make a case for Robin Reid in the No.10 slot.
WBC Super Middleweight Champ, with four successful defences etc.
He may have been shot to shit by the end of his career, but don't forget what he achieved.

Re: post 1980 British P4P top ten....
Let's also remember who he achieved it against though. Reid never had a really decent world-class victory to his name - his best performance was in the loss to Calzaghe and his loss to Malinga remains one of the worst 'world title' fights I've ever witnessed.Loftgroov wrote:You could make a case for Robin Reid in the No.10 slot.

3. Naz
4. Ricky Hatton
5. Nigel Benn
6. Barry McGuigan
7. David Haye
8. Chris Eubank
9. Lloyd Honeyghan
10. Duke McKenzie
This kind of list is very subjective but I can't believe Hamed is as low as 6th on some peoples lists. There is a very strong argument he should be in ahead of Calzaghe.

Re: post 1980 British P4P top ten....
McGuigan is too high. He was very popular, but his career really wasn't very special. I say he would be lucky to make top 10. Haye too high for me also. He needs to beat a top boy at heavyweight. Cruiserweight was a very weak division.SteveDow wrote:1. Lennox Lewis

Calzaghe number 1 for me
