Skill wise it's no contest, but how many times have we seen Williams underperform? It's a hell of a comedown - from world title to domestic dust up.
He's going to find it hard to get motivated for this one - what does he stand to gain from a win here? Not much really....his own promoter was telling him to retire a few months back.
I think the bookies have it about right...

The motivation for Danny should be that should he lose this fight he might be effectively finished. As you say a bit of a comedown, his last fight was against the world no 1, now he is faced with career oblivion!MightyWarrior wrote:Skill wise it's no contest, but how many times have we seen Williams underperform? With heavyweights it's never over till the fat lady sings. Maybe he should get 5 or 6 world title shots, like Bruno or Golota - bound to get it right eventualy.Chopping Right wrote:

I think this depends which Danny turns up. Danny is a fighter good in the gym, but when he turns up in the ring, his confidence can get to him.
I reckon that if he feels too much pressure, and takes his usual 4 rounds to warm up Skelton will swarm him. If Danny turns up focused, it'll be more interesting.

Thinking about it further when I peg Williams as clear favourite in this fight I'm thinking more about his beating Tyson and forgetting how he lost to Michael Sprott and Julius Francis. Or got battered by another clubbing puncher in Sinan Samil Sam. Maybe those bookies aren't so wrong, I just hope the better Danny turns up that night.
I disagree, the state of the heavyweight devision the winner of this match can easilly come back.
Alot of independent rankings have Williams in the top 15, and I think he is in the top 10 in some of the organisations. A victory here and he can definately move on.
If Skelton wins then of course he will move into roughly Danny's current position.
Even the loser can bounce back providing Sprott wins the EBU title.

Sorry to jump on the bandwaggon, but I agree this fight has got Skeltons name all over it!!!!
He is so oppressive, relentless and brutal! He has a solid chin, and his style takes so much out of opponents. Danny will be over with in 5.
Someone like Herbie Hide would be the type to stop the Skelton show, someone rough and ready who can beat him in the trenches.... but then knowing Herbie he'd probable get disqualified and incite a riot.
