For whatever it's worth, here is a list of great welterweights from 1945-85. I didn't see that many fights before 1945 or after 1985, so here goes:

5. Carmen Basilio
Other great welterweights are Griffith, Napoles, Hearns, Benitez, Palimino, and Rodriguez. Hope that I didn't leave anyone out that deserves to be here. People here are welcome to add their own lists here. Time restrictions are not necessary.

Yes. After thinking about it, I would put Napoles in my top 5 making it a top 6. Maybe number 3.
