It's early days. Casey has a warm-up fight in December. He needs to do the full eight rounds in that fight, in my opinion.

Well looking at Casey's next opponent he wont get in a full 8 rounds, it wont go pasted 2..

I wouldn't say he is the pride of Limerick city.
Limerick is a prowd city and a lot of people in the city and county have no time for Willie or any of the Caseys.
He seems like a breath of fresh air to me; granted I don't know the fellow or his kin but he is certainly delivering the goods, doesn't speak out of turn and respects his foes after the bout.

Im with you Fox seems a Great Fella...

These two must have the least number of fights as a Pro to fight for the Interim WBA Title?? Not even 20 between them. :o

Those people are complete pudenda then. Willie Casey is an absolute gentleman and always conducts himself with class and dignity. If you hold a person in low regard because they are related to some undesirable people it makes you nothing more than a bigoted prick.
I don't think dutchie meant to be disrespectful toward Willie. The Southill Casey Clan do have a very bad reputation in Limerick ie assault, murder, drugs (Willie's own brother got mixed up in the drugs and died). You couldn't blame for some people not wanting to support Willie, especially if they were at the wrong end of the Casey clan. Willie himself said he was unsure turning pro, he thought he would have no fans (probably for those reasons).

Willie however is no waster :shame: . He was the first in his family to do the Junior cert ( GCSE level in the UK I think), he went on to train as a welder. When I was in school in Limerick city most of the Southill lads left after the first year of secondary school. Willie was an example to his younger brother/sisters and some of them finished school. Willie is a rare success story to come out of Southill. Look at him now: going to be fighting at world level after 11 fights :o . The man is polite, has charisma, attacking boxing style and ducks fvckin nobody. The vast majority of Limerick city folk are behind this man.

That Southill sounds like one hell of a place. If Willie Casey is setting a good example to the young then I say fair play to him; he deserves more good luck and victory. We all know of weaker willed people who see the easy buck; a few years on their back and they've taken the harder road. Best of luck to Casey and to J; Terrace Gaskin has long retired but his kin John Boy still fights and Yatesey is still bad to the bone (what would he have done on the better path?)

It wasn't directed at dutchie. It was directed at those people who dislike him because of his surname.

Rigondeaux will be far to quick and accurate for casey, caseys biggest problem will be that Rigondeaux is a counter puncher and if he comes out swinging then he'll get picked apart all night, casey heart will make him come back stronger from this

“We have agreements met on both sides. The only hurdle now is television. The Irish public have been with Willie all the way on this journey and it would be a travesty if they couldn’t tune in to see his World Title fight but we are confident this can be resolved and then the fight will be made.”
Brian Peters, Dolphil promotions and Willie Casey want the fight on rté (Irish national broadcaster free to air TV). Rigondeaux's crew want it on SKY SPORTS for the extra money. Willie know that if he wants to build his fanbase to Bernard Dunne levels, this fight has to be on rté.

If Casey wins it would have to be considered one of the biggest upsets of recent times. He'll give it 100% without a doubt and that's all you can ask for in a boxer.

Just Lourdes - it might need a week in Lourdes which is topped and tailed with a weekend in Knock and Medjugorje either side for good measure.

Rigondeaux just beat a former world champion in his 7th fight. that is class. Most fighters would have only just started six rounders in their 7th fight. Rigondeaux is, and always has been, class!! In his last fight, once he started to tire, he was able to get on his bike and barely got touched from the 8th round on. i think Rigondeaux stops Casey in around 4 or 5, but credit to Casey for taking it.

Its a real tough ask for Casey, but maybe his flies-on-shit approach could unhinge Rigo a little in the early going.

Saying that, the gulf in class appears massive.

Hope it's super cold in Ireland come March; Rigondeaux hasn't a spare gram on him; the weight will not be so easy to shift over this side. Casey has got real stones; win or lose I have no doubt he'll do himself proud. Rigondeaux has to have some real miles on the clock; it could be a tasty fight.
