Cotto: Tszyu will stop Hatton
Cotto: Tszyu will stop Hatton
WBO jr welterweight titlist Miguel Cotto looking at SHOWTIME's June 4 showdown between Kostya Tszyu and Ricky Hatton with interest. "It is a one-sided fight," said Cotto from his training camp in Caguas, Puerto Rico. "Tszyu should win easily before the seventh round. Tszyu is too strong and has too much experience for Hatton. Tszyu has also fought a higher caliber of opposition.....his power should be the decisive factor in this fight." The following week, Cotto makes his Madison Square Garden debut, defending his title in a rematch against nemesis and 2000 Olympic gold medalist Muhammad Abdullaev, 15-1 (12 KOs) -- the last man to defeat him (during the 2000 Olympics).

Well if you go for Hatton, you're picking a major upset - the Aussie is arguably top 3 P4P, and P4P wise, Hatton is nowheresville.
So no surprise virtualy everyone is picking Tszyu to win.
Very different fight, but virtualy everyone including the bookies, was predicting a Golota win last week.
Overall, I'd say people are giving Hatton a much better chance than they gave Benn before the McClellan fight for instance...

I'd have to say Tszyu is a much much better fighter than McClennan ever was.MightyWarrior wrote:Well if you go for Hatton, you're picking a major upset - the Aussie is arguably top 3 P4P, and P4P wise, Hatton is nowheresville.

I'd also say that Benn was better than Hatton.
Tszyu by KO, quick

No he nice boxing skills, nice jab and movement, but Benn wasn't too badly placed P4P either - and he was WBC champGraham Brett wrote:McClellan P4P king, never, he was a one trick pony. Gerald was never quite P4P king, he was seen by many as P4P king in waiting, but he had one major flaw, which was that he had no defence to speak of. His boxing skills were pretty good, but he seemed to rely on his offensive prowess almost exclusively. He would have gotten clobbered by someone eventually.

Like Hamed with less stamina and without the solid chin. I think a lack of stamina and weight draining did him in against Benn. He was used to blowing guys out so quick he didn't have the stamina to defend himself in the later roundsjamesmcdonnell wrote:Gerald was never quite P4P king, he was seen by many as P4P king in waiting, but he had one major flaw, which was that he had no defence to speak of. fornicate me all this is a bit harsh dont you think? what are we basing Mcellleans glass jaw on then, a fight that left him paralysyed and one that took a hell of a lot of punishement in? are you sure I dont think we should questioning G mans chin personally?Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Like Hamed with less stamina and without the solid chin. Weight draining? McClellan started out at LM, hardly likely to be weight drained at SM. He looked pretty frail compared to Benn at SM, and he obviously wasn't prepared for someone to get up from the kind of kicking he gave Benn. Benn's low crouching style also gave him problems, as McClelland liked to throw straight shots and hooks/overhands, he hardly used the uppercut at all, which Benn was open for all night. Many of the shots McClellan landed were clubbing shots on the top of the head.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Like Hamed with less stamina and without the solid chin. McClellan messed Jackson up for keeps.
Guys who were at the top around the time of McClellan - Benn were boxers like Whittaker, Jones Jnr, Trinidad, DLH, Ricardo Lopez, Arbachakoz, Tom Johnson, Bowe, and even guys like Virgil Hill and Ike Quartey. McClellan was good but that's a tasty bunch to be top of.

I heard he boiled down considerably. Wasn't part of the reason for the brain damage the fact his brain was so drained of fluids?jamesmcdonnell wrote:Weight draining?
