Truth is, I realised that the one person in that ring who really needed knocking out was Joe Cortez.

He was absolutely woeful. Standing in the action, interfering constantly. Marching Maidana to his corner at every round end. Ignoring the constant holding of the arm by khan, failing to address a couple of low blows by Maidana. As they circled each other, he made it his mission to stand in their way rather than follow it.

Cortez was poor last night - he isn't a poor referee usually but he can be paid to be poor can't he?
