It's going to be another 1st round k.o against a novice. How is he allowed to get away with this? I take it your not going. I think if he boxed in Auckland I'd probably go.

Who else can see a pattern forming here?? SBW will stay with the AB's until the world cup enhance his rep now hes an AB go back to Europe and cash in on the fact hes a former All black etc no bout make mega bucks over there while boxing here and there then follow the route of Mundine and go boxing fulltime he can no doubt see the coin earned by Anthony boxing and i think he'll follow a similar path. All hes doing right now by boxing once MAYBE twice a year is doing his apprentiship whilst still earning the big bucks playing footy. BIG coin in europe whilst playing at a easier less intense level than in Southern Hemisphere............

Dunny Bill, being a member of Mundine's ship of fools is following his mentor's credo in "never giving a sucker an even break".

Someone needs to tell the greedy Dunny that if you lie down with dogs you get fleas!

Webb is a disputed 6 feet and weighed in at 17 stone for the fight against Lewis. Good size for a prop, but too heavy at his height for a boxer.

beltane,

but instead of fleas bill is getting ca$h.

i don't see a problem with it. if people will pay to watch him in these silly fights then whats wrong with sonny letting them?

the people handing over their money r the only ones to blame.

yep- gives new meaning to the word cash cow. good on SBW as he and his ring masters understand that there are plenty of gullible suckers attracted to circus fights. Hmmmm

SBW V Kimbo Slice- a "footy player" with a stiff head and no real head movement in stunning shape fighting a half arse mug of a street fighter, struggling to make a living in unarmed combat sport: makes for a very even fight. SBW seems like a heck of a nice guy and might be a bout which will sell very well albeit for the novelty factor.

Has there actually been talk of that fight happening, or are you just throwing out an idea?

Just an idea..... I am not one for circus fights and freak show shit but at least this will allow some degree of evenness and great interest in mainstream

Sonny Bill will not have it all his own way if he does fight Lewis. Been told Lewis is takeing his boxing more serious since his win over Webb, Lewis is a big boy and if fit will give Sonny a good showing.

i did like the idea though, good for a giggle.
i think there could be a place for circus stuff like this, but as part of a good card of proper fights. would generate some "mainstream" interest and hopefully get people to realise that boxing is still a good sport to watch at that level and its not always the mundine/mayweather/green/haye type rot that can be handed out to us

Good for a giggle...furthermore rather than bull shit folks with media conferences that boxing will make him a better and "sharper" All Black- might as well say, the NZRU contract money is peanuts, got to cash in on boxing with freak fights etc. No one will hold that against him- cashing in and making a living, a very good one: whats pisses boxing fans off is that all that is done at the expense and mockery of boxing. He's got to make a living and given that there are enough suckers who buy PPV...SBW and co are giving the market exactly what they want. Go SBW V Kimbo and maybe a celeb referee....

Good on SBW. Thats why he achieves what he does...I'd make all the money I can if I was in his position as well. I think the match up is about right. Novice against novice. I don't think it earns PPV though. But suckers pay to see him fight because of his status as an athlete...

First of all, SBW needs boxing to top up his bank account like he needs a third armpit. He is a 25 year old dual international for christs sake. He donated his last purse 50 thousand dollars to charity. I think you will find he did the same in his first fight. His next fight will be his first against a genuine ranked heavy. He says he is keen to test himself in the boxing scene and that is fair enough, footballers have been dabbling in boxing for as long as i can remember. So whats the big deal with all the circus comments? I just had a look at the number 1 boxrec rank for Aussie heavies- Alex Leapai, Alex had his 23rd fight against an opponent with the outstanding record of 0wins and 12 losses and youse reckon SBW makes a mockery of boxing
