I actually found myself shouting "SHUT UP" at the telly. The big occasion gets to his head and he wants to be noticed; not the sign of a good ref.
I watched it the other day as well and I thought the opposite, it was still a bad ref'ing display but wasn't as bad as I thought to start with. He just doesn't like inside fighting, and Hatton does have a mauling sort of style, and that doesn't suit Cortez's game
To be fair there are a few ref's who break too quickly, but it wasn't just that part of it that I found annoying. I felt he let Mayweather get away with a LOT. There were a good few cheeky little elbows being thrown, and whenever Hatton tried to move inside Floyd ducked down below waist level, so inevitably they got tangled and Cortez stepped in to break. I think he warned him about it once but then let him carry on doing it.

Mayweather would have won anyway of course, he was brilliant in the last 3-or-so rounds.

I thought the point off was rough and Mayweather got of more than Ricky but overall I thought he wasn't terrible.

Couldn't stand the allowance of Mayweather's ducking below the waist technique when Ricky had a go early on.

Isn't the refs job to protect the fighters etc? I'm sorry, but the tv companies have dozens of cameras so if the ref gets in the way they can switch. Ridiculous that you claim the ref should not only worry about the actual fight, but also tip toe around the tv cameras. Utterly ridiculous.
