To be fair there are a few ref's who break too quickly, but it wasn't just that part of it that I found annoying. I felt he let Mayweather get away with a LOT. There were a good few cheeky little elbows being thrown, and whenever Hatton tried to move inside Floyd ducked down below waist level, so inevitably they got tangled and Cortez stepped in to break. I think he warned him about it once but then let him carry on doing it.alexpaterson wrote:I watched it the other day as well and I thought the opposite, it was still a bad ref'ing display but wasn't as bad as I thought to start with. He just doesn't like inside fighting, and Hatton does have a mauling sort of style, and that doesn't suit Cortez's gamegreenyox3 wrote:I watched Hatton v Mayweather again the other day on Sky Anytime+ (which is AWESOME by the way), and Cortez was even worse than I remembered. I actually found myself shouting "SHUT UP" at the telly. The big occasion gets to his head and he wants to be noticed; not the sign of a good ref.
Mayweather would have won anyway of course, he was brilliant in the last 3-or-so rounds.
