But nobody he faces in the division would do as much for his legacy as Khan would, financially or in terms of status and publicity. Oh, and let's not forget the WBA title would be up for grabs, in front of thousands of his fans.

He might only have a slim chance of beating AK, but he has a chance at least.

He should fight the best, but if you guys want him to wait for an easier target then I find that a little sad and disappointing.

People on here slate champions for not fighting the best, this is the first time I recall people calling for a contender (and 32 at that) to not fight the champion because a better, or should I say easier, opportunity may present itself in the future.

No, I want him to get the fight with Khan, but I also want to see him receive a fair pay day for taking the risk losing his unbeaten record, which, like it or not is a valuable commodity and fighting a guy who is at least in the top three.

Its a dangerous biznaz this boxing and McCloskey deserves a fair share or the pie if he is to help make millions for Team Khan. I am surprised you think any different.

Far better fighters have taken far less for title shots. I seem to remember someone saying Judah and Spinks fought for a lot less in a world title showdown not that long ago.

Well no I wouldn't agree that we are "handing the fight to Khan" anymore than you are.

I said "In reality there is a high probability that he will lose." Which you agree with by saying "he might only have a slim chance" and predicting the probability 70:30 in Khans favour. I might have him a slightly stronger favourite at say maybe 80:20 but hey whats a swing of 10% amongst old chums?

Like I said, I think he should take the fight, it could be a win/win for McCloskey but he needs to be taking home a minimum of £100k for his trouble. If he was offered less than that I would be disappointed in Team Khan's cheapskateosity but if offered more I would be disappointed if Dudey didnt go for it.

Can't see any reason for them to short change him, he's a good fighter, will put bums on seats and will provide a test.

Peterson won't put bums on seats.

They're saying the offer was "peanuts" and that effectively this match-up is dead in the water now.

The problem is that if they know that PPV is bringing in a figure in the millions, they may consider £100k to be peanuts in comparison.

If he loses to Michele he'll regret not taking the Khan fight....who does he expect to get a big payday against?

well he is #4 at the WBC.

That title could be vacant this summer and I could see him fighting for that title against the of Chebah-Olusegun then.

Saves him having to pull his pants down for Khan.
