How can you price yourself out of fighting a local fighter when cost more to get an import? Green katsidis geal have all fought imports at some stagestus wrote:the money can obviously vary, but as mark p said its a hard way to make a quid. tickets are the way to make money. most fighters agree to a purse similar to what mark mentioned then agree to a take of ticket sales.
if you can sell tickets you will make enough.
one thing i dont get is why more fighters dont fight the best out there and worry about the money later. if you are an up and comer fight the best in aus not imports. as a pro 90% of fighters still hold down a day job so if you really want to succeed why not sacrifice a bit of your purse to fight the best. instead of out pricing yourself stand up and take the going rate. afterall as an amateur you werent getting payed, and were still working.
this money you sacrifice doesnt go to the promoter believe me but it will enable him to put on more high quality shows. once you make a name for yourself the money will come. look at katsidid, green, and geale to a lesser extent, all starting to make very good money.
just my way of thimking guys is $250 a round against an import really worth it when you will get the same to fight a local lad and earn respect for taking the tougher fight

Re: Prize Money
Its quite easy to price yourself out and happens all the time. Blokes think they are worth more than the going 250-300 a round and ask for more from the promoter. Some up to 500 a round but cant offer anything in return. Such as selling tickets so it becomes cheaper to bring someone out who will fight for half the normal amount let alone askin for more.

Re: Prize Money
OK if the cost of bringing a thia or someone from nz is say $3000 for 6 rounds and you ask for $2000 than you haven't priced yourself out of it no where near that's just simple maths but some promotors want you to fight someone that you are not expected to beat and even if you beat them you won't get the dicision they want you to fight them blokes and sell tickets Ive been in that situation before but I didn't ask for $500 a round Ive never heard of anyone asking for that muchstus wrote:Its quite easy to price yourself out and happens all the time. Re: Prize Money
Maybe if I keep promoting I'll find who them blokes who ask for big money are. In march I'm ment to be fighting a bloke named Stuart stokes. I don't know much about him all know is his had one fight at heavy wieght and he trained Paul bourke who was very lucky in a getting majority dicision over me last June. In that fight I had a bad elbow injury and shouldnt of fought I didn't want to pull out because I was all so the promotor of the show. Stuart stokes had a choice of who he wanted to fight and he picked me he must be judging me off that performance when I fought one handed be carefull what you wish forstus wrote:Mark i could give u many examples of people askin that much but i wont ruin there name or reputation. Hi Mark, as my first post here i just thought i would come back at that comment about being "lucky" to get a decision
. Did you watch the tape? you hung on to me all night cos you couldnt box me at a distance, and made it a very ugly fight, but u got outboxed and hardly threw a clean shot all night. Even the ref thought the scores from one of the judges were a joke. Anyway i can handle the fact you have fought with an injury as i have done it plenty before myself but I was a touch amused by the reference "lucky" but good luck for 2011.

I fought I landed more punches I watched the tape 3 times I'm saying I deffenitly won but it was close I think majorty dicision shows that it was close I'm not going to get home town dicision that's good because it means I have to perform better I didn't fight that good I'm the first to admit that but I fought pretty much one handed and was still throwing punches right till the end there isn't many blokes that have that in them that's something your born with anyway you got the win and good luck to you all the best are you still fighting?Paul Bourke wrote:Hi Mark, as my first post here i just thought i would come back at that comment about being "lucky" to get a decision. Re: Prize Money
ok, this will go nowhere but round 5 and 6 i tagged you at will and you had very little petrol to finish. you had the sore elbow i could say i slacked off the training after watching a poor, unfit effort against matt burns. which i will say you fought better when we fought, but that would be an exuse. i guess we will disagree on that one. I had semi retired after a loss in october but looks like the wife
may let me fight again if i am a good boy
we will see, maybe we can do it again one day just so you can agree i won and would win every time!!
DD ( i also think i am addicted to smilies)

If you were hitting me at will you should of put me away but like you said this will go nowhere there is only one way to settle this. It's pretty obvious what that is I have to get through your trainer first one thing at a time that's enough talk for me all the bestPaul Bourke wrote:ok, this will go nowhere but round 5 and 6 i tagged you at will and you had very little petrol to finish. you had the sore elbow i could say i slacked off the training after watching a poor, unfit effort against matt burns. which i will say you fought better when we fought, but that would be an exuse. i guess we will disagree on that one. This will go nowhere , I thought the talk was over , be a good boy. you better be a good boy or else you Wont be allowed to have the opportunity to do that again. If you want to be like that , than Nice photo ,enjoy! good photo to show the grand children with the many others you must have . you must be able to count the photos you have with your hand up with one hand on a oven glove , good on you for getting a win over me but your only as good as your last fight.

Good one bro, how did I know you would say something about me fighting imports? Well you fought one import and he stopped you, records don't mean much. I've been stopped by someone whos record was worse than yours, your words were you were hitting me at will if that's the case, you couldn't stop someone who's been stopped by someone that was 0&5. If our hungry go eat some eggs but How are you going to break them? Take care we will meet again all the best.Paul Bourke wrote:patron wrote:mark, you look like your carrying a bit of excess baggage, hit that training a bit harder, all the bestMark pawsey wrote:

! but anyway. I am off to eat some dinner, what would you recommend? pad thai? Ok,I will wait till your fit. and ready and uninjured.
