Johnny's very talented and well preserved but he's no beast is he. Most boring fighter I've ever watched but at the same time one of the most clever. Never takes a risk and the last real live opponent he fought was Carl Thompson.
Was sat watching his fight with that guy... Arias I think his name was and boy - I felt I was lucky I didn't end up in a coma. So groggy by the time the 12th round fight I felt like I'd been jabbed silly/to sleep at the same time.
Then a defence or two ago when he went to Germany and he beat this strong but limited guy (not Rudiger May, one before that) and after the fight he's on his mobile in the ring to allegedly and he says "Not bad for an old git" or something like that and I remember thinking 'yeah but it weren't that great mate was it but hey, it's money in the bank.'
Johnny's too clever a guy to let himself be involved in a drag-down knockout slugfest. A reluctant warrior one might say.
At least in a fight with Macca he may have to put some really bad intentions into his work because Enzo will try and knock his block off.

I think Nelson might need to KO Maccirnelli, I don't give Nelson much hope at 38 to keep away for 12 rounds and I do think Nelson's chin is overated - I'm not saying he is chinny, but in recent ears Sellers is the only fight to catch him clean (as noted in the fight commentary) - I think it is his defensive skills and his "fear" of getting smacked in the jobs that has meant he hasn't gone down any other time.jamesmcdonnell wrote:I reckon Nelson may well knock Macca out if they fought.
Nelson does have the power to KO Maccrinelli and I would be tempted to go for that scenerio - but I cannot see him him fighting the way he has done recently and not get caught in the 12 rounds vs Enzo.
I think Nelson will box circles around Enzo, who has been fed a bunch of chumps. Enzo will get found out when he starts fighting opponants who have a pulse. Nelson could win by decision, or knock Enzo out. Enzo has a big punch, but he doesn't have a great all round offensive game. He doesn't move that well, he very upright, and there is no great movement.
His stand up straight style has worked up to now against guy's who are there to be hit, but what happens when he faces someone with a decent defense, who can also hit back? He get's knocked out is what.
Nelson should look for a fight with Mormeck. I know it's a longshot, but since Nelson is on the way out, why not? He should at least explore that option, and see what kind of offer may, or may not be on the table.

I totally disagree with you here, pal. That's WHY he hasn't been fighting much - he's trying to secure a big pay day. He doesn't really want to take on anyone and everyone - he just wants a couple of big uns. Macca would be a good one.Riddick Blowe wrote:I've always respected johnny. It's just frustrating that he obviously doesn't care at this point about getting a final, big international fight.

Okay, but don't f@ck about, just drop the name.Kieran wrote:Nelson will be fighting soon, but it won't be Maccarinelli.
The deal is agreed, it's a just a case of the opponent officially signing up to what has been agreed verbally.
An interesting domestic match up - but with a world title up for grabs.
You've really stumped me here.Kieran wrote:Nelson will be fighting soon, but it won't be Maccarinelli.

Nelson v Hide would be awful. And I'm not convinced Hide can make 200 straight away I think he'll take 2 or 3 catchweight fights to get down to that. He was about 230 in his last fight.
I imagine both of them would be so tentative it would make for an apalling spectactle.
Instead of that, I propose they face off in a 100 metres backward running contest. Nelson has to be a sure bet for winning that. ;)
