Not after that press conference they won't. Unless this is some sort of contract issue?

He was weighed today by the BBBoC and they gave him the ok to go ahead with the fight. I can't see him being over 6pound.

Does it make that much difference to the value of the fight though? I mean neither will want to lose the undefeated record. Doesn't make the fight less interesting to me if it's not for the WBO strap.

edit: I should add that the bill should never have been PPV to start with

I think it makes alot of difference, it shows that Bellew isn't in fighting shape and would have killed himself to try and make the weight.

National boxing journo Steve Lillis tweets, either 10 rounder or Cleverly against some other dude for WBO

If Bellew didn't make the weight and went on to win the fight, the belt becomes vacant.

It's happened before. If one fighter doesn't make the weight it goes ahead with the proviso that the fighter over the poundage either doesn't win or forfeits the title on winning/drawing. Usually there is some sort of stipulation as to what the overweight fighter can weigh [over] the weight limit.

I think the last time was Guzman/Funeka.

EDIT: Cleverly wouldn't be stripped so long as he made the weight, just wanted to clarify given what I quoted (!).

If the fight is still a go, he cant be that much over the limit. Cleverly isnt about to risk his career fighting a dude who is 12-15 lbs heavier, at least you wouldnt think so...wouldnt be terribly smart.

Well, that answers that, clearly he was way too heavy. Dont blame Cleverly's people for pulling the plug. He'd be in there against a heavyweight.
