Name Dropping

This isn't a forum like you get in football. A lot of people on here have been in and around the game for years and do actually know a lot of boxers.

For all his criticism Spud is very well connected. Eric Guy does know most boxers in the south of England. Gomez is a long time friend of Carl Froch etc etc. So, obviously, when we get fanboy rants from posters on here about certain fighters, people on here will speak up because they know the person mentioned in reality. They are not boasting, just stating facts.

Should we expect a significant increase Hatton related anecdotes from your good self Andy now that you are on the payroll? ;)

I find a lot of people name drop on here. Why do people feel the need to name drop all the time...
I've only ever met Antonio Tarver at the Froch Vs Dirrell fight and Michael Sprott because he goes to the same gym as me when I am back in the UK!

He was enthusiastic about boxing so he doesn't deserve to be ripped into too much.

In saying that I do remember Rhino posting a picture of Spud in his pants at some point. Pretty difficult to respectfully read a guys views when you know what he looks like half dressed.

I've never seen it as a name-dropping place whatsoever, as there are too many people here who are involved with the trade that you'd get exposed and look like a twat pretty quickly.

For example, I posted a few weeks ago that I had lunch with an all time great (table of 6, I sat next to him). No-one gave me any crap whatsover, just asked salient questions about what we may have spoken about.

I think spud has latched on to many promoters, and got work out of it, wont say he is well connected tho, he might think so.

Eric has been in the game for many years so thats why he knows many people, and has a great boxing knowledge, tho his jokes are pretty crap!!

His entire attitude for that fight was plain wrong. He didn't bother preparing properly, and most importantly, didn't give himself time to acclimate himself to fighting at altitude - hence he was wheezing like an asthmatic accordion after 3 rounds, his legs went, and Rahman hit him with a peach of a shot.

Lewis was too busy hanging out with film stars and yes, he sure paid the price.

However, Rahman paid the price in the rematch. He knew it was a fight he wasn't going to win.
