Boxing has everything to do with mental strength and mental flaws... this is the real difference between being a true great and an also ran in boxing and anyone who knows boxing knows this. Had Tyson the mentality of a Frazier or Marciano then he would have achieved much more and may well have proved himself an all time great but he was severely flawed even at his 'prime' and hence he does not merit a place amongst the all time greats.
6 defeats, none avenged, biting off ears, attempting to break arms, biting thighs... use of ugly profanities etc etc etc... sound like an all time great to anyone here???....... :box:

What do you think Wilt's reach was?
What really would have happened if Muhammad Ali faced Wilt Chamberlain?

Wilt has to be in the top 10 - 20 athletes of all time.

He was in tremendous shape, A world class weight lifter, 7'0 tall with a ridiculous reach and he wasn't a big clumsy giant either he was very agile, he holds his state high school record for the long jump and 100 meter dash.

I actually believe that he would've beaten Ali and when he did there would be lot's of giants boxing instead of playing basketball.
Dear Grimm,

This forum over here seems to be better suited to your intellectual capacity and perspective on the world: http://www.network54.com/Forum/201879

Check it out. Don't bother coming back and thanking me. I already know you will love it. In fact, don't bother coming back at all.

No, that's exactly my point, if you have never seen the man fight then how could you automatically say that it is just crazy for someone to say he could beat Ali?

If any of you are actually boxers and not just people who try to assume what it is like being in the ring, then you would know that someone a whole foot taller than you would need very limited boxing skills to give you hell.

I'm not going to go on about everything Wilt Chamberlain could do but he was truly a freak and could do almost anything.

I'm not saying that it was definite that either of them would win, but my bet would be on Chamberlain.

Common fornicating sense...

Go to your local gym, pick a professional fighter 3 or 4" shorter than you, and 20-30# lighter than you, then pick a fight with him...and you'll find out first hand what an experienced boxer can do to someone bigger...you also won't find many boxers who think a basketball player can beat a quality heavyweight boxer...
I'm not going to go on about everything Wilt Chamberlain could do but he was truly a freak and could do almost anything.
There were hundreds of things Wilt couldn't do...especially beating a heavyweight champion...
I'm not saying that it was definite that either of them would win, but my bet would be on Chamberlain.
You were 'definite' in an earlier post...change your mind much?

I was not definite in my earlier post.

I clearly said that "I believe Chamberlain would've won" I didn't say it was impossible for Ali to win and that Chamberlain would definitely win.
There were hundreds of things Wilt couldn't do...especially beating a heavyweight champion...
Well you don't know this. Seing that he never fought one.

If I go and beat the hell out of some middleweight at my gym I will prove nothing. 3 or 4 inches is not 11 or 12 inches anyway. 3 or 4 inches is not much of a difference at all.

You've never boxed before have you?

...no real boxer would say a basketball player could beat Ali...unless they suffer from pugilistic dementia...no real boxer would be intimidated by someone who never boxed...no real boxer would post something like that...if your 'boxing skills' match your intelligence, deductive reasoning, and common sense, you must really suck...

Well might as well educate you in the studies of english as well.

Definite:2 a : free of all ambiguity, uncertainty, or obscurity .

Definite1 : having distinct or certain limits

Did I say that Wilt Chamberlain would beat I Ali?

NO. I said that I believe had they fought he would've won.

And I do believe that he would have won had they fought, I never said that I was absolutely positive that he would beat Ali, I just picked him to win.

YOU are not Wilt Chamberlain.

Nor will you ever be able to achieve what he has done outside of basketball.

I still cant agree with you, no matter how great an athlete Wilt was you just can't pick up the multitute of skills, mental and physical of a World class Boxer in a few months it takes years and years of coaching and fight experience.

I have no problem name calling on a boxing forum.

But you of all people to call names, the same person who questioned my class when I called silkov a faggot, you of all people resort to name calling.
