Korean heavyweight Jae-chan Kim
Re: Korean heavyweight Jae-chan Kim
Yeah, i saw that on his record, Nishi was an old war horse, he sat Mundine on his bum at super middle, my mate flew to Japan to get a twelve round victory over him in the same stadium that Ali fought in.
Re: Korean heavyweight Jae-chan Kim
I saw that fight. Nishizawa took him to school. I think Jae-chan totally underestimated him.Brute wrote:Does anybody remember an old Japanese cruiser named Yoshinori Nishizawa who came out here a few years ago, fought a draw with Sonni Michael Angelo and lost to some local cruiserweights? He KOed Kim in three rounds in 2008.
Nishizawa was 42 at the time.

He said he can't make cruiser, so light-heavy is out of the question.boxingviews wrote:some TBA opponent for Light-Heavyweight on upcoming cards in Aus

I re-sent it, but this time from my hotmail account. Hope you get it. If not, perhaps your mailbox is full? The pic is a little large. Got it now. It's within BoxRec's Wiki allowed size, but will make it thumbJoe Boxer wrote:I re-sent it, but this time from my hotmail account. Hope you get it. If not, perhaps your mailbox is full? Thanks & Cheers
P.S Hotmail is these days generally slow. Gmail is better

That 'Old Japanese cruiser' had 56 pro fights whilst Kim had 3 pro bouts and had no amateur experience - if we are aware of the facts you then see that bold statistics on a boxrec page tricks the story up a little - fact - he will give any Aussie heavyweight outside of Meehan and probably Leapai a battle.Brute wrote:Does anybody remember an old Japanese cruiser named Yoshinori Nishizawa who came out here a few years ago, fought a draw with Sonni Michael Angelo and lost to some local cruiserweights? N2Shape would probably be interested as he was eyeing up the Korean boxing scene at one point.

I am allright mate - off to Saudi in three weeks - hows the hand?Joe Boxer wrote:Hey, C, what's up?Fat Git wrote:Jae Chan Kim would be a good match up for anyone like Kirby, Whitehead and the like - he is fit and aggressive. Is he still the Korean heavyweight champion Joe? (He beat a Canadian for the title but it seems that Korea has a few decent heavies these days)
There aren't enough heavies in Korea, so he never had a chance to defend. That being said, I've seen fighters introduced as "Korean Champion" when fighting in Japan, even though they had been stripped for not defending, etc. It's up to the promoter how the fight is marketed.
Re: Korean heavyweight Jae-chan Kim
Kim has only had two prelim fights since Nishizawa. Nishizawa has had another three fights at cruiser and light heavyweight and lost them all.Fat Git wrote:That 'Old Japanese cruiser' had 56 pro fights whilst Kim had 3 pro bouts and had no amateur experience - if we are aware of the facts you then see that bold statistics on a boxrec page tricks the story up a little - fact - he will give any Aussie heavyweight outside of Meehan and probably Leapai a battle.Brute wrote:Does anybody remember an old Japanese cruiser named Yoshinori Nishizawa who came out here a few years ago, fought a draw with Sonni Michael Angelo and lost to some local cruiserweights? I have seen him fight - he will give a lot of your domestic heavies a battle.Brute wrote:Kim has only had two prelim fights since Nishizawa.Fat Git wrote:That 'Old Japanese cruiser' had 56 pro fights whilst Kim had 3 pro bouts and had no amateur experience - if we are aware of the facts you then see that bold statistics on a boxrec page tricks the story up a little - fact - he will give any Aussie heavyweight outside of Meehan and probably Leapai a battle.Brute wrote:Does anybody remember an old Japanese cruiser named Yoshinori Nishizawa who came out here a few years ago, fought a draw with Sonni Michael Angelo and lost to some local cruiserweights? He fought two Korean prelim fighters after Nishizawa. I can just see Whitehead, Browne and Kirby trembling.Fat Git wrote:I have seen him fight - he will give a lot of your domestic heavies a battle.Brute wrote:Kim has only had two prelim fights since Nishizawa.Fat Git wrote: That 'Old Japanese cruiser' had 56 pro fights whilst Kim had 3 pro bouts and had no amateur experience - if we are aware of the facts you then see that bold statistics on a boxrec page tricks the story up a little - fact - he will give any Aussie heavyweight outside of Meehan and probably Leapai a battle.![]()

We can argue this all day Brute but have you seen him fight?
I have.
I am not saying he would beat Whitehead or Kirby however he would give them a fight. And I would put my money on him beating Browne.
Whatever - if there is a promoter who wants to put their money onto a decent import (and you all moan about how crap the imports are coming into Australia these days) who will give entertainment value to the fans then you have found him. Until you have seen him fight Brute then you need to zip it - I wouldn't comment on a fighter I have never seen fight.
Re: Korean heavyweight Jae-chan Kim
Form is a good guide. I get sick of people running down Australian fighters and then bringing over imports who turn out to be fizzers.

And I have given you some background information to the form you see in black and white on an internet site. Kim has come on leaps and bounds over the past few years - reserve judgement till you see him - like any intelligent boxing fan would.Brute wrote:Form is a good guide. Re: Korean heavyweight Jae-chan Kim
Fat Git and Brute: I can settle this.
Jae-chan comes to win. What he lacks in smooth boxing skills, he more than makes up for in heart and balls. He had a bad showing against Nishizawa (as have others), and has improved since then.
Not many heavies will take an 8-rounder in their first fight and a 10 rounder in their second. Then another 8-rounder, coming out with three KO wins, against fighters with winning records.
Btw, look for his record to improve to 6(5)-1(1) today ;;-)

Sorry to hear about your hand Joe. You say 'final' are you retiring from the sport now?

Nanakorn: Thai light heavyweight, fought several Australians, never beat one.
Chiasson: Canadian Cruiser who kniocked over 4 Korean Tomato cans.
Kim has not fought in 18 months. Who is he supposed to fight next?
Re: Korean heavyweight Jae-chan Kim
I won't be fighting anymore. I'm looking at training, managing, and helping out as a translater for Korean managers. We'll see.Fat Git wrote:Sorry to hear about your hand Joe. You say 'final' are you retiring from the sport now?

As for Jae-chan's record improving (should be 6-1 by the end of the day), that's because I realized one of his fights hadn't been recorded on boxrec. I submitted the info to the Korean boxrec correspondant, and he said he'd update it.

Dude. Now you're just being picky. I'm not arguing for Jae-chan to be in your P4P list. I'm trying to get the kid some fights.Brute wrote:Winning records,Joe Boxer wrote:Fat Git and Brute: I can settle this.

Re: Korean heavyweight Jae-chan Kim
Good luck to him, but he may find the going a bit tough over here. Most of the local heavyweights are a lot bigger than the blokes he has fought.
